1. وَذي راحَةٍ مِثلَ صَوبِ الغَما

    مِ لَيسَ لَهُ في العُلا مُؤنِسُ

    With ease like the breeze in the sky

    He travels onward, lonely,

  2. تَحَمَّلَ نَحوَ بِلادِ الشَآ

    مِ يَحمِلُهُ مَهمَهٌ أَملَسُ

    Journeying homeward, mindful of duty,

    Serene, and pleading hardship no more.

  3. إِذا مَجَّهُ بَلَدٌ بَسبَسُ

    تَلَقَّمَهُ بَلَدٌ بَسبَسُ

    The rude wilderness cankers his spirit

    No more now than yesterday.

  4. أَقولُ لَهُ عِندَ تَوديعِنا

    وَكُلٌّ بِحاجَتِهِ مُبلِسُ

    I said, at our parting, indeed -

    Each of us driven on by need.

  5. لَئِن قَعَدَت عَنكَ أَجسامُنا

    لَقَد سافَرَت مَعَكَ الأَنفُسُ

    If we are divided, bodies apart,

    Souls, in truth, together depart.
