Because of a head like yours, joy has vanished;
On the likes of your head the pine tree slipped,
and time has turned against us and turned upside down.
And time turned against us and was overturned.
Whenever we wish, we see calamity
When we desire, we see the affliction
with our own eyes, and hear astonishing things.
With our eyes and hear the wonders.
The treasures of your forefathers of old,
The treasures of your early fathers
you squandered on bride-prices for playthings.
You squandered in frivolous games,
And you surrendered their sovereignty, once it came
And you surrendered their authority when it
to you, through scraps of documents.
Came to you in torn books.
Why, then, should you not be counted among the most generous,
Why then are you not counted among the generous?
when the kingdom of Khurasan is among the things you give away?
And the rule of Khorasan is something you grant freely.
