By your life, it never ceases to stride between us—
By your life, it never ceases to cross my mind
war with the Romans, with spears and blades.
With the Romans, war with spears and blades
We clash with them in deadly combat before reaching their daughters,
We battle them with death before their daughters
as angry, valiant lions clash.
The battle of lions, furious heroes
And my eye has never seen the like of their daughters' demands
So my eyes never saw bargaining for their daughters
for a blood-debt we owe, or their pursuit of vengeance.
A lute with us or seeking long goals
Whenever we kill their men with swords,
When we kill their men with swords
they exact repayment from us with their deadly eyes.
They seek from us, with deadly glances
