He went off among those escorting the departing caravans.
He left, escorted by mourners’ wails,
Lord, preserve him and love wherever they may be.
My Lord, please protect him wherever passion reigns.
He carried beauty and grace away from Bagh—
He took charm and wit from Baghdad
—dad, until he settled them in al-Bardān.
Until its cold made them lag.
If only I knew when I would see him and meet—
I wonder when I’ll see him again
—him, my heart declaring its secret openly.
To pour out my heart’s secret to him.
My life's only sustenance is the north wind,
The north wind alone sustains my life,
and a breeze that sometimes brings him.
Bringing his breeze to me sometimes.
