  4. And Abu Jaʿfar has the look and sound

    of someone chained in the monastery of madmen.

  5. Full of foolishness, a dullard claiming literary learning,

    yet he cannot tell figs from clay.

  6. Grim and scowling over the tabletop, his

    darting glances are like the points of knives.

  7. His bounty draws you near, at no expense to him,

    yet obtaining it lies beyond India and China.
