May I be your ransom! I have an amusing tale,
I offer myself for your sake, for I have pleasant news,
and you are versed in every noble deed.
And you are well-versed in every honorable deed.
On the morning of sacrifice, every community slaughters,
On the morning of the Feast, each tribe slaughters,
yet I have neither sheep nor camel.
Yet I have no sheep nor camel to offer.
Yes, I have a donkey of my own; so tell me:
Rather I have a donkey - so tell me,
are donkeys accepted from one who sacrifices them?
Will the sanctified accept my humble gift?
If you do not ransom him—may my soul ransom you—
If you are not ransomed, I shall ransom you with my soul,
with a sacrificial animal, he will be slaughtered tomorrow.
Slaughtered as an offering - so shall my donkey be slain.
