إِنَّ السَماءَ إِذا لَم تَبكِ مُقلَتُها
لَم تَضحَكِ الأَرضُ عَن شَيءٍ مِنَ الخُضُرِ
Indeed, if the sky’s eye does not weep,
When the sky does not weep its tears
the earth does not smile to reveal any greenery;
The earth laughs at nothing green.
وَالزَهرُ لا تَنجَلي أَحداقُهُ أَبَداً
إِلّا إِذا مَرِضَت مِن كَثرَةِ المَطَرِ
and the flowers’ eyes never open
The flowers never open their eyes
unless they fall ill from too much rain.
Unless sick from too much rain.
