The beloved's phantom came visiting from afar,
The specter of my beloved hurts more than his enemies,
and from the distant reaches of his earth and sky.
And the distance of his land and skies,
It crossed al-Liwa in haste and hurried onward,
The ardor hastened in anguish, and directed him speedily,
from his rugged, stony sands to his sandy plain.
From the sadness of his lightning to his loved ones,
It brings greetings; in his phantom's finding its way
He sends greetings, and in the guidance of his imagination,
from afar there is wonder, and in its offering too.
From afar he is wondrous, and in his gift,
Had he visited outside sleep, he would have healed you of
If he had visited without misfortune he would have healed you,
love's madness and the burning anguish of its torment.
From the delirium of passion and the burning of his longing,
So forsake love, or die of your illness; for it is in
So leave desire or die of your malady, for
the nature of love's captive to die of his illness.
It is the fate of the enamored to die of their malady,
And a brother—I donned life, green and fresh,
And a brother with whom I wore life, fresh and flourishing,
through his noble companionship and the excellence of his brotherly love.
With his noble company and the excellence of his brotherhood,
Nothing has multiplied my hopes and wishes
How abundant were my hopes in him and wishes,
but God's protection of his life.
Other than God’s defense of his loved ones,
And Abu Nuh wears a garment of affection
And my father Noah wore a garment of love,
that wins him pure love from his enemies.
That gave him pure affection from his enemies,
His open, cheerful countenance speaks of his generosity,
The eloquence of his cheerfulness revealed his generosity,
so you almost find success before meeting him.
That he almost attained success before meeting,
And the radiance of a face—if a man beheld it,
And the light of a face, if a man contemplated it,
parched in his breast, he would drink his fill of its water.
Yearning at heart, would be sated from its water.
