And al-Shalmaghan was the father of kings,
Shalamghan was the father of kings
Then he became a father to the commoners of Ma Daraya.
But became father of the market's rabble
Are all the sons of its villages his sons?
All the sons of his officers are his sons
He has surely come close to being the father of all creation.
He is about to become father of the desert sands
Abu Yazid's ingratitude drives us away
Abu Yazid's ingratitude separates us
From tawny wine, clear in the evenings.
From Sahaba, clear and bright evenings
So humiliation was our lodging, and we spent the night
So we spent the night at al-Khasaf
With mosquitoes singing to us in Jarjaraya.
With mosquitoes singing us their songs
Had the sons of al-Utrush been present, they would have been
If the Banu Utrush had attended they would be
Closer in affection and broader in counsel.
The most affectionate and eminent in view
A people whose prayers to Mani are not
A people whose prayers to idols
Offered, nor is their prophet Ibn Baya.
Are not kept, nor their prophet the son of Baya
Sol 6.1
