In Surra man Ra, we have an imam,
With joy for one who is for us a leader
The seas draw from his sea.
The seas draw from his sea,
A caliph in whom hope is placed, and who is feared,
A caliph to be hoped for and feared,
As though he were paradise and fire.
As though he were paradise and hellfire.
Both his hands pour forth in torrents,
Both his hands overflow with bounty
As though each were a jealous co-wife.
As if competing in generosity.
For the right hand does nothing
So the right hand brings nothing
Without the left doing the same.
Unless the left brings the like of it.
So kingship rests in him and in his sons,
Thus sovereignty in him and his sons
As long as night and day endure.
Lasts as long as night and day endure.
