Say to the minister whose ministry
Say to the minister whose ministry
is God's handiwork, its goodness enduring:
Is a gracious gift from God, sustaining him:
You are the sultan's deputy in judgment; you carry
You lead the sultan in his rule, executing
it out, and are his chosen one and his trusted man.
His judgments, his elect, and his trusted one.
And with you, justice is always among us,
With you is justice among us, ever
its beacon and its path clear to us.
Its beacon bright to us, its ways familiar.
Would you have praise all to yourself
Do you claim all praise for yourself alone,
until the last of nights, and hold gratitude in pledge?
Night after night, when gratitude should share it?
And nothing will bestow both upon you
None love you when the two come together
but the return of my slave boy, or his price.
Save my slave, whose return or ransom claims you.
