I shall surely die of my grief,
I will surely die of sorrow
For love of one I do not name.
In the passion of one I dare not name.
My soul has departed, although I was
My soul is gone, though to all
Keeping it hidden from people.
I feign blindness.
ʿAlw, O delight of my eye,
Rise high, light of my eyes,
And my soul's desire and my concern,
My soul's bliss, my cares' aim.
Fulfill some of the promises made to me—
Fulfill some of my hopes,
May my father and mother be your ransom.
For the sake of my father and mother.
