أَصلِح أَبا صالِحٍ يا رَبِّ إِنَّ لَهُ
نِهايَةَ الوَصفِ مِن ظُلمٍ وَعُدوانِ
Reform Abu Salih, O my Lord, for his

injustice and aggression reach the utmost that words can describe.
Has reached the utmost in oppression and wrongdoing.
بِتنا بِقُطرُبُّلٍ تَجري الكُؤوسَ لَنا
مِن فائِضٍ في يَدِ الساقي وَمَلآنِ
We spent the night at Qutrubbul, cups circulating among us,
We drank together in Qutrubbul, the cups
some overflowing in the cupbearer's hand, others brimful.
Overflowing from the surplus in the cupbearer's hand.
ثُمَّ اِفتَرَقنا عَلى سُخطٍ وَمَعتَبَةٍ
وَكَيفَ يَتَّفِقُ اللوطِيُّ وَالزاني
Then we parted in resentment and reproach.
Then we parted in anger and discontent—
And how can the sodomite and the fornicator agree?
How can the pious man agree with the fornicator?
