Accept the excuses of one who comes to you apologizing,
Accept the excuses of those who come to you apologizing,
Whether he was truthful with you in what he said or lied.
If they are innocent in what they said or did impulsively.
For the one whose outward manner pleases you has indeed obeyed you,
For he who pleases you outwardly has obeyed you,
And the one who disobeys you in secret has indeed misled you.
While he who disobeys you secretly has led you astray.
The better of two friends is the one who overlooks his companion's faults,
The best of friends is one who overlooks his companion's faults,
Though, had he wished to avenge himself on him, he would have done so.
Even if he could avenge himself, he does not take revenge.
