Carry word to Abu al-Fadl, and you will address the finest of his peers,
Convey to Abu Al-Fadl, you convey the best of his companions
In the excellence of his exemplary character and manners.
In his supreme morals and manners
Praise and glory dwell beneath his dome,
Praise and glory crown his dome
And hope and fear are both found at his door.
And desire and awe are present at his door
None shall lay hold of faith and worldly life as is their due,
He will not attach religion and worldly life to their rights
Except one who fastens both his hands to his ropes.
Except the one who attaches his palms to their causes
May our lives, which we guard so jealously, ransom you
Our souls that we live by ransom you
From the pains of what you suffer and its ailments.
From the pains which you complain and its wounds
You are not the ailing one we visited out of respect;
You are not the sick one whom we visited out of generosity
Rather, the ailing one is that which now gives you your honorific.
But the sick one whom you have come to be called
