We came to you, though we had been angry,
We came to you, though we were still angry,
to make peace with you, seeking no reproach.
To make peace with you, not to blame or scold you.
And we had shunned you, so we returned
Though we had shunned you, now we turn
to you when we could not bear staying away.
Again to you, since we can no longer shun you.
My beloved pretended to forget me and grew weary of being with me,
My dear one forgets me and is bored with me
and turned away—no messenger and no letter.
And turns away, sends no messenger, no letter.
