حملتها في هواك الضيم تحتمل

كوني كما شئت إن هجراً وإن صلة

فليس تنكر صبر البازل الإبل

Be as you wish, whether estranged or reconciled

For the patience of the resolute camel does not waver

كم ذقت للدهر خطباً أنت أيسره

فما ثنى عطف حلمي الحادث الجلل

How many calamities of fate have I tasted

Yet my forbearing calm was not shaken by the mighty events
