1. وَنَرجِسٌ لَم يَعدُ مِبيَضُّهُ ال

    كَأسَ وَلا أَصفُرُهُ الراحا

    The narcissus no longer has its whiteness of chalice,

    Nor its yellowness of fragrance.

  2. تَخالُ أَقحافَ لُجَينٍ حَوَت

    مِن أَصفَرِ العَسجَدِ أَقداحا

    It seems like goblets of crystal

    Containing yellow drink.

  3. كَأَنَّما تَهدي التَحايا بِهِ

    لطفاً إِلى الأَرواحِ أَرواحا

    As if you were gently conveying greetings

    To souls, O souls!

  4. يُلهي عَنِ الوَردِ إِذا مارَنا

    وَيُخلِفُ المِسكَ إِذا فاحا

    It distracts from roses when we pass by

    And leaves behind musk when it blows.

  5. أَحبِب بِهِ مِن زائِرٍ راحِلٍ

    عُوَّضَ بِالأَحزانِ أَفراحا

    Love it from a traveling visitor

    Whose sorrows were compensated with joys.

  6. فَاِنتَهِز الفُرصَةَ في قُربِهِ

    وَكُن إِلى اللَذّاتِ مُرتاحا

    Seize the opportunity in its nearness

    And be comfortable with pleasures.

  7. وَهاتها عَذراءَ لَم تُفتَرَع

    في اللَيلِ إِلّا عادَ إِصباحا

    Bring it, a virgin who was not milked

    Except at night the dawn returns.

  8. كَأَنَّما كُلُّ بَناتٍ حَوَت

    كاساتُها تَحمِلُ مِصباحا

    It's as if each daughter whose goblets

    Contained lamps bearing light.

  9. وَاِجنِ بِأَلحاظِكِ مِن وَجنَتي

    مُديرِها وَرداً وَتُفّاحا

    And wink your eyelashes from my cheeks

    At its keeper, a rose and an apple.
