ولم يَكُ فِيَّ مِنْ عَيْبٍ

ولم يَكُ فِيَّ مِنْ عَيْبٍ

أُعابُ بهِ فَيَنقُصَني

أُعابُ بهِ فَيَنقُصَني

And I had no fault within me

for which I might be blamed and diminished.

فإنّي قد صَحِبْتُ النّا

فإنّي قد صَحِبْتُ النّا

سَ فيما مَرَّ من زَمني

سَ فيما مَرَّ من زَمني

For I have kept company with peo—

—ple throughout the years of my life gone by;

فلم أحسُدْ أخا نِعَم

فلم أحسُدْ أخا نِعَم

ولم أشْمَتْ بمُمْتَحَن

ولم أشْمَتْ بمُمْتَحَن

I never envied one blessed with bounty,

nor gloated over one put to trial.

لذاكَ اللهُ يَرعاني

لذاكَ اللهُ يَرعاني

ويَكْفيني ويَحْرُسُني

ويَكْفيني ويَحْرُسُني

For that, God watches over me,

suffices me, and guards me.
