1. رَميْنَ القلوبَ بأشواقِها

    ظِباءٌ تَصيدُ بأَحداقِها

    The hearts cast their passions

    Like gazelles hunting with their eyelids

  2. تَحيَّر من حُسْنِها الطَّرْفُ بَيْنَ

    حَبيسِ الدُّموعِ ومُهْراقها

    The glance wanders, perplexed by her beauty

    Imprisoned by tears and flowing freely

  3. رمَتْ بالهوى قلبَ كُلِّ امْرئٍ

    عليلِ الجوانحِ خَفّاقها

    She shot the heart of every man with love

    Fluttering the wings of the infirm

  4. فلِمْ لا تَرِقُّ لأشباهها

    عيونٌ مِراضٌ كعُشَاقها

    So why don't eyes that are lovesick like her

    Soften for her counterparts?

  5. وما زال من شِيَمِ الغانيات

    مَع الإلْفِ قِلَّةُ مِيثاقها

    And it is still the way of singers

    To rarely keep a pact despite intimacy

  6. شِعارُ الضَّنى جِسْمُ مُرْتادِها

    ونَهْبُ الجَوى قَلْبُ مُشتاقها

    The brand of sorrow marks her body

    While the plunder of ardour marks her heart

  7. فللّهِ لو سَلِمَتْ أَنفُسٌ

    قَضاها الهوَى غيرَ أَرماقها

    By God, if only souls survived

    Which passion condemned without any chance

  8. وممَّا شَجاني وقد وَدَّعوا

    بُكاءُ الحمامِ على ساقها

    Of what saddened me when they bid farewell

    Was the dove's weeping at her leg

  9. تَنوحُ على بُعْدِ أُلاّفها

    وتُظْهِرُ مَكْتومَ أَشْواقها

    She laments the absence of her friends

    And reveals her hidden passions

  10. وضاقَتْ صُدوراً بأنفاسِها

    فَفرَّجْنَ حَلْقةَ أَطْواقها

    Breasts tightened, so they unfastened

    The shackles from their necks

  11. لَبِسْنَ حِداداً ومَزَّقْنَه

    فلم يَمتسِكْ غيرُ أَزْياقها

    They wore mourning and tore it

    So that nothing remained but their throats

  12. وقد نزفَتْ في الهَوى دَمعَها

    فلم يَبْقَ ماٌ لآماقها

    She shed her tears of passion in love

    Without any water left for her Flask

  13. أَتَتْ غُدوةَ البَيْنِ حتّى روَتْ

    من الشّجْوِ أَشعارَ نُعّاقها

    She came in the morning of Separation until she quenched

    The heat of her longing at the water-skin

  14. وقد لَحّنتْ كُلَّ أَبياتِها

    كفِعْلِ الفُحولِ وحُذّاقها

    She sang every verse

    Like the stallions and the most skilled

  15. قوافٍ على القافِ مَبنيّةٌ

    لِوَصْفِ الفراقِ بمُنْساقها

    Rhyming the “Qaaf” with the “Qaaf”

    To describe the departure sequentially

  16. تَلقَّتْ على عَجَلٍ حِفْظَها

    لتَجْويدِها ولإفْلاقها

    She hastily memorized it

    Wanting to recite it eloquently

  17. وقد خَطّأَتْ فَتْحَ حَرْفِ الرَّويِّ

    فَضَمّتْ أَواخِرَ إطلاقها

    But she mispronounced the end rhyme

    So she closed with the vowels of her recital

  18. فَقُدَّتْ لها من رداء الغُرابِ

    تَمائمُ تُلْوَى بأعناقها

    Talismans were lost from the dress of crows

    Twisted around their necks

  19. فيالَكِ مُشتاقةً ما تَزا

    لُ تُعدي الرّجالَ بتَشْواقها

    What a passionate woman who still

    Seduces men with her passion

  20. وخُطْباً علَتْ فوقَ أَعوادِها

    وقد خَطَبتْ مِلْءَ أشْداقها

    She proposed above the poles

    As if she had proposed with her jaws

  21. أَطالَتْ من الوجْدِ تَشْبيهَها

    بإطْنابِها وبإغْراقها

    She prolonged the simile of ecstasy

    With her eloquence and immersion

  22. وكان التّخلُّصُ في إثْرِها

    ثَناءً على آلِ إسْحاقها

    The conclusion after her was to praise

    The house of Isaac its initiator

  23. كرامِ الخلائقِ مُذْ لم تَزَلْ

    كذاك جَرى حُكْمُ خَلاّقها

    The generous who have never ceased to be

    That's how the Judgement of her Creator flowed

  24. وفي كلِّ أيّامِ عَصْرٍ هُمُ

    إلى المجدِ أَوّلُ سُبّاقها

    And in every era they

    Are the first to compete for glory

  25. فضَضْنا ختامَ لآلي الزّمانِ

    فكانوا نَفائسَ أَعْلاقها

    We have chosen the conclusion for the elite of time

    For they are the essence of its horizons

  26. فإن طابَ منها ثِمارُ الفُروعِ

    فمِن مُقتضَى طِيبِ أَعراقها

    If the branches bear good fruit

    It’s due to the goodness of the roots

  27. هُمْ أَنجُمٌ لسماء العُلا

    وعُثْمانُ شَمْسٌ لآفاقها

    They are the stars of the sky’s sphere

    And Othman is the sun of its horizons

  28. إذا ما تَجلّتْ جلَتْ بالضِياءِ

    من الأرضِ قاتمَ أَعماقها

    When it manifests itself it shines with light

    From the dark depths of earth

  29. وإن أَشرقَتْ شَرِقَتْ عُصبَةٌ

    من الحاسدِينَ بإشْراقها

    And if it rises, a party rises

    Shining to the envious with its rising

  30. ردَدْنا أَحاديثَ أَهلِ النّدى

    فجاءتْ يَداهُ بمِصْداقها

    We have recounted the conversations of the people of guidance

    So his hand came true to its promise

  31. ومَلَّ الطُّلَى هامَ أَعدائه

    فطارَ الحديدُ بأفلاقها

    The days of enemies were filled with headaches

    So iron broke with its strikes

  32. وضَجّ العُناةُ إلى كَفِّه

    فمَنّتْ عليهمْ بإعْتاقها

    The hostile clamoured toward his palm

    So it favoured them with liberation

  33. يَكادُ إذا مَسَّ أَقلامَه

    تَعودُ إلى خُضْرِ أَوراقها

    When he touches the pens

    They almost return to the greenness of their leaves

  34. فليت ليالٍ صَحِبْنَ الكرامَ

    تَعلّمْنَ من حُسْنِ أَخلاقها

    If only the generous nights accompany

    To teach the beauty of their morals

  35. ألا أَيُّها المَلِك المُرتَجى

    لفَتْحِ ثُغورٍ وإغْلاقها

    O king, desired to conquer lands and lock them

    The deer walked with determination

  36. مضَتْ بالعزائمِ منكَ الظُّبَى

    مَضاءَ السِّهامِ بأفواقها

    Like arrows flying straight

    And your right hand supported you the day of confrontation

  37. وأَزرَتْ يَمِيناكَ يومَ النّدى

    بهطّالِ مُزْنٍ ودَفّاقها

    With pounding rains and pouring

    The hopeful extended their necks

  38. ومَدّتْ إلى بابِك الرّاغبو

    نَ أعناقَ عِيسٍ بإعناقها

    To your door with their necks

    And when you saw the decline of sciences

  39. ولمّا رأيتَ كَسادَ العلومِ

    عُنيتَ بتَنْفيقٍ أسواقها

    You cared to invigorate their markets

    You made up for its last shortcoming

  40. تَدارَكْتَ آخِرَ حَوْبائها

    وأَبْدَيْتَ جِدّةَ أخْلاقها

    And showed the novelty of its morals

    You authorized a gentle palm

  41. وَوكَّلْتَ كفّاً بها سَمْحةً

    بأذْهابها وبأوراقها

    To collect them and its papers

    As a preacher rides reciting

  42. كما يَعْتلي عارِضٌ مُطبِقٌ

    بإمطارِها وبإبراقها

    With its rain and lightning

    So you united its distracted children

  43. فألّفتَ شاردَ أبنائها

    وشَرّدتَ آلِفَ مُرّاقها

    And disturbed those criticizing it

    You inherited it as a tradition from your father

  44. وَوُرِّثتَها سُنّةً عن أبيكَ

    فما طِبْتَ نفْساً بإخْلاقها

    Never pleased with a soul despite its morals

    You gathered the Imams like stars

  45. جمَعْتَ الأئمةَ مثْلَ النُّجو

    مِ تَهْدي السّبيلَ لِطُرّاقها

    Guiding the way for its meteorites

    You became, O sun between it

  46. وأصبحتَ يا شمسُ ما بَيْنَها

    طَلوعاً تُنيرُ بإطْباقها

    A rising that illuminates with its orbit

    Strangely, the stars shine

  47. ومن عجَبٍ أنْ تُضيءَ النُّجومُ

    إذا الشّمسُ ألقَتْ بأَرْواقها

    When the sun casts its squares

    You remained a supporter of the religion of guidance

  48. بَقِيتَ ظَهيراً لدينِ الهُدَى

    تَذودُ العِدا دونَ إرهاقها

    Repelling the enemy without exhausting it

    You lasted beautifully for a state

  49. ودُمْتَ جَمالاً على دَولةٍ

    تُدِلُّ عليكَ بإشْفاقها

    That shows affection for you

    And you were, in an impregnable stronghold

  50. وكنتَ من النّصرِ في مَعْقِلٍ

    متى كشَفَ الحَرْبُ عن ساقها

    Whenever war uncovered its leg

    Whenever a flag fluttered

  51. إذا خفَقتْ رايةٌ أيقنَتْ

    نُفوسُ عِداكَ بإخْفاقها

    Your enemy’s souls despaired

    Your hands guaranteed all people

  52. كفيلٌ يداكَ لكلِّ الورَى

    بآجالِها وبأرزاقها

    Their lifespans and provisions

    With your good fortunes, you lock their necks

  53. بيُمناك تُغْلَقُ أعناقُها

    ويُسراكَ مِفْتاحُ أَغلاقها

    And your left hand is the key to their locks
