اليَومَ عادَ رَجائي مورِقَ العودِ
وَأَنجَزَ الدَهرُ مِنهُ كُلَّ مَوعودِ
Today my hope has returned, thriving like a sapling,
And fate has fulfilled every promise.
العيدُ عادَ إِلى عودي بِخُضرَتِهِ
وَالحالُ حالَ عَلى حالي بِتَجديدِ
The feast has returned to my sapling in its greenery,
And my state is renewed in its renewal.
وَاليُمنُ مِن عَن يَميني غَيرُ مُنقَطِعٍ
وَاليُسرُ مِن عَن يساري غَيرُ مَصدودِ
Good fortune from my right is unceasing,
And blessing from my left is undiminished.
وَكُلُّ هَذا بِيُمنٍ عادَ يَشمَلُني
مِن مَقدَمٍ لِأَمينِ المُلكِ محمودِ
All this has returned to envelop me,
With the good fortune of the Trustworthy Ruler Mahmud.
إِذ عادَ بِالطائِرِ المَيمونِ مُبتَهِجاً
يَختالُ ما بَينَ تَمكينٍ وَتَأييدِ
He has returned joyfully with the auspicious bird,
Strutting in power and support.
وَجاءَ في مَوكِبِ الإِقبالِ يَنشُرُ مِن
نَصرٍ بِناصيَةِ الراياتِ مَعقودِ
He came in the procession of favor, spreading
Triumph in the tethering of the banners.
وَجَرَّ ذَيلَ العُلا وَالمَجدِ يَخطِرُ في
رَيعٍ مِنَ العِزِّ مَعمورٍ بِتَخليدِ
He dragged the train of glory and grandeur, stirring
In a meadow of honor laden with eternity.
فَاِرتاحَ رَكبُ بَني الآمالِ قاطِبَةً
إِلَيهِ يُحدَونَ بِالمَهرِيَّةِ القودِ
The band of hopes relaxed towards him,
Rushing with gift-horses that are guided.
يَسرونَ في البيدِ أَرسالاً وَسَيرُهُم
إِلى فَتىً صَدرُهُ أَفضى مِن البيدِ
They race in the desert freely, their way
To a hero whose breast is more generous than the desert.
يَستَمطِرونَ النَدى مِن كَفِّ ذي كَرَمٍ
يُعطيكَ مِن غَيرِ تَكديرٍ وَتَنكيدِ
They seek the dew from the palm of the generous one
Who gives without fatigue or sorrow.
فَتىً غَدا الجودُ مَوجوداً بَخِلقَتِهِ
وَلَم يَكُن قَبلَهُ جودٌ بِمَوجودِ
A hero who was created generous in his nature,
None before him were generous in existence.
يَجودُ حَتّى لِيُعدي الجودُ سائِلَه
فَهَل رَأَيتُم جَواداً جادَ بِالجُسودِ
He gives until generosity exceeds the asker,
Have you seen a gallant horse gallant with bounties?
فَأَيُّ مَجمَعٍ وَفرِ غَيرُ مُفتَرِقٍ
وَأَيُّ مَحفِلِ حَمدٍ غَيرُ مَشهودِ
What gathering disperses or praise is unattended?
What path of eulogy is disconnected?
وَأَيُّ سِلكِ ثَناءٍ غَيرُ مُتَّصِلٍ
وَأَيُّ حَبلِ رِجاءٍ غَيرُ مَمدودِ
What rope of hope is unextended?
Of refined manners, his traits are sweet,
مُهذَّبُ الخُلقِ مَعسولٌ شَمائِلُهُ
مُوَفَّقُ الرَأيِ مَلحوظٌ بِتَسديدِ
Of sagacious opinion, noted for support.
Envied in merit among all people for eternity,
مُحَسَّدُ الفَضلِ ما بَينَ الوَرى أَبَداً
وَما سَمِعنا بِفَضلٍ غَيرِ مَحسودِ
No merit have we heard of without envy.
In his hand is a pen that flows with
في كَفِّهِ قَلَمٌ تَجري بِمَدَّتِهِ
عَينا دَمٍ وَعَطاءٍ غَيرِ تَصريدِ
A stream of blood and gifts unstinted.
Black and white alike know his boundless scale,
البيضُ وَالسودُ تَعيا عَن مَداهُ وَإِن
أَنشا يُؤَلِّفُ بَينَ البيضِ وَالسودِ
Though he authors unity between black and white.
Neither night nor day surpass
فَما اللَيالي وَلا الأَيّامُ فاعِلَةٌ
فِعالَها عِندَ إِرخاءٍ وَتَشديدِ
Their work during ease or effort.
Abu Talib has excelled all people in bounty,
أَضحى أَبو طالِبٍ دونَ الوَرى كَرَماً
وَلِلندى بِيَدَيهِ كُلُّ إِقليدِ
By his hands all reins are held.
His ancestors built him a glorious lineage,
بَنىلَهُ في العُلا أَسلافُهُ شَرَفاً
وَجاءَ يُتبِعُ ما شادوا بِتَشييدِ
And he carries on what they erected.
He holds a lofty position in both Sanctuaries,
ذو رُتبَةٍ في القُرَيَّتَينِ عالِيَةٍ
يَرمي العِدا دونَ أَدناها بِتَبعيدِ
Casting his enemies below the lowest with exile.
He bears a spirit on the brow of time,
وَغُرَّةٍ في جَبينِ الدَهرِ شادِخَةٍ
مَوروثَةٍ مِن عُلا آبائِهِ الصِّيدِ
Inherited from the elevated spirits of his forefathers.
God has paved the horizons of glory for him,
قَد مَهَّدَ اللَهُ أَكنافَ العَلاءِ لَهُ
وَاللَهُ يُؤثِرُ أَقواماً بِتَمهيدِ
And God privileges some through facilitation.
The wretched of creation have come to drink
وَأَصبَحَت أَشقِياءُ الخَلقِ مِن يَدِهِ
تَخوضُ وِردَ نَعيمٍ غَيرَ مَعدودِ
From his hands the wine of boundless bliss.
If it fulfilled what lies against it, it would gain leaves
وَلَو قَضَت ما عَلَيها لَاِكتَسى وَرَقاً
مِن فَيضِ كَفَّيهِ مِنها كُلُّ جُلمودِ
From the overflow of his palms where all rock is removed.
Who will convey from me the glory of their state with
فَمَن يُبَلِّغُ عَنّي مَجدَ دَولَتِهِم
مِنَ النَصيحَةِ قَولاً غَيرَ مَردودِ
Advice no feet can outrun?
With the discerning sword of Ibn Mansur you gained victory
بِسَيفِ رَأيِ اِبنِ مَنصورٍ نُصِرتَ عَلى
عِداكَ لَمّا تَساعَو بِالمَكاييدِ
Over your enemies when they plotted their plots.
Strengthen your hand with skilled allies from him,
فَاِشدُد يَدَيكَ بِنَدبٍ مِنهُ مُنتَصِرٍ
تَلقَ الوَرى بِكَمالِ غَيرِ مَجحودِ
The world meets you with untarnished perfection.
Your wealth attains the utmost protection in his hand,
يَنالُ مالُكَ أَقصى الحِفظِ في يَدِهِ
وَمالُهُ هُوَ مَخصوصٌ بِتَبديدِ
While his wealth is earmarked for spending.
The highest of earth’s kings desire his position,
يَوَدُّ أَعلى مُلوكِ الأَرضِ مَنزِلَةً
لَو كانَ يُلقي إِلَيهِ بِالمَقاليدِ
If it were to fall to them by the reins.
But it is a partition destiny runs among them -
لَكِنَّها قِسَمٌ يَجري القَضاءُ بِها
مِنَ الوَرى بَينَ مَجدودٍ وَمَحدودِ
Some limited, some bounded.
Congratulations to you, best of the beneficent,
هُنِّئتَ يا أَحسَنَ الإِحسانِ أَن جُمِعا
عيدانِ قَد رَوَّحا عَن كُلِّ مَجهودِ
Two feasts have come to relieve all strain.
The first welcomed from us with celebration,
إِظلالُ فِطرٍ وَعودٌ مِنكَ مُنتَظِرٌ
وَذاكَ أَولاهُما مِنّا بِتَعييدِ
The second awaits gifts from you.
So live in security and lasting prosperity,
فَاِسلَم وَدُم لِلعُلا في عيشَةٍ رَغَدٍ
مُطَرَّزٍ ثَوبٌ نُعماها بِتَأييدِ
A garment decorated through support.
Hear if you wish every eccentricity
وَاِسمَع إِذا شِئتَ مِنّي كُلَّ شارِدَةٍ
كَالعِقدِ تُجعَلُ مِن عُلياكَ في جيدِ
Placed around your neck like a necklace.
Of what my unfettered mind has intended
مِمّا نَأَيتُ بِذِهنٍ غَيرَ مُحتَبِسٍ
عَلى القَوافي وَطَبعٍ غَيرِ مَكدودِ
Upon meters my nature pours unhindered.
Like the weaving of a double-sided brocade
كَنَسجِ مَسرودَةِ العِطفَينِ سابِغَةٍ
أَو نَظمِ مُنخَرِطٍ في السِلكِ مَسرودِ
Or strings of pearls perfectly aligned.
My master the people have submitted to unanimously,
يا سَيِّداً سَوَّدَتهُ الناسُ قاطِبَةً
لا كَالَّذي سادَهُم مِن غَيرِ تَسويدِ
Not like one who ruled them without equity.
For the one whose being holds a command
وَمَن غَدا وَلَهُ في كُلِّ ما نَفَسٍ
مِنَ الجَلالَةِ أَمرٌ غَيرُ مَعهودِ
Of majesty among all souls unconventional,
Today all people celebrate unexceptionally,
قَد عَيَّدَ اليَومَ كُلُّ الناسِ قاطِبَةً
مَسَرَّةً بِقُدومٍ مِنكَ مَسعودِ
Delighted by your blessed arrival.
Their feast after their fast
وَكانَ عيدُ الوَرى مِن بَعدِ صَومِهِمُ
فَجِئتَهُم أَنتَ قَبلَ العيدِ بِالعيدِ
You brought them before the feast with feast.
