1. قلتُ لمّا قالوا غدا رأْسُ شمسِ ال

    مُلْكِ فَرداً يَطوِي مُتونَ الفَيافي

    When they said tomorrow the head of the kingdom's sun

    Will be alone, rolling up the expanses of meadows

  2. لم نُرِدْ كُلَّ ذا بهِ عَلِمَ اللّ

    هُ اعتِقادي وما علَى اللهِ خاف

    We did not intend, with all of this, that which

    God knows, for my belief is not upon God as a dread

  3. لكن الآنَ حيث كان فَصبْراً

    وارْجُ خَيراً فاللهُ للعَبْدِ كاف

    But now, where patience was, then patience,

    And hope for good, for God to the servant is enough

  4. إنّما كان عُقْدةً رأْسُه قا

    رَنَ شَمساً فآذنَتْ بانْكِساف

    It was only a knot the head of which approached

    A sun, so it signaled an eclipse

  5. وإذا الرّأسُ فارقَ الشّمسَ فاعلَمْ

    بُدِّلَ الاِنكسافُ بالاِنْكِشاف

    And when the head parts from the sun, then know
