1. أشبهَ دَهْري أبناؤه فهمُ

    إنْ ظَلَموا كُلُّهمْ فما ظُلِموا

    My fate resembles its sons, though unjust, not unjust they remain

    The injustice of the world dwells in my soul and souls of fate's sons

  2. في نفْسِ دهْري وفي نفوسِ بني

    دَهْري جميعاً ظُلْمُ الوَرى شِيَم

    No two fair ones can concur, when people all you survey

    You do justice when they wrong you, or wrong when just are they

  3. ما يَلْتقي اثْنانِ مُنْصفانِ معاً

    إذا اخْتبرْتَ الأنامَ كُلَّهُم

    Lovers' foes, when impassioned, their lovers they'd reprove

    And lovers chiding, when secure, their censors disapprove

  4. تُنصِفُ ما دام يَظْلِمونَكَ أو

    تَظْلِمُ إنْ كان يُنْصِفُونَ هُم

    Had critics been noble, they had not criticized

    But critics only blame when themselves they stigmatize

  5. أعداءُ عُذّالِهمْ إذا عَشِقوا

    وعُذَّلُ العاشقينَ إن سَلِموا

    No critics of lovers, if sincere, deserve dispraise

    Save when a wrongful critic, unjust, deserves blame

  6. لو كَرُمَ العاذلونَ ما عذَلوا

    بل لم يلوموا إلاّ وقد لَؤُموا

    Lovers crave union, though their death it would require

    My soul's delight - though life itself it would retire

  7. ما لائمُ العاشِقينَ إن صدَقوا

    إلاّ إذا لامَ ظالمٌ أَثِم

    To God commending the swift traveller, I bid adieu

    While the living at dawn are bent on parting anew

  8. راموا سُلُوَى وكُلُّ تسليمةِ ال

    عُشّاقِ لو يَعْلمون قَتْلُهم

    My heart toward His mention yearns, and with tears overflowing

    Finds with remembrance of Him solace glowing

  9. إلْفيَ رُوحي ولو خَلا نَفْساً

    من رُوحِه الصَّبُّ فهْوَ مُخْتَرَم

    Morn of parting rose; my watcher stood between us twain

    The abode's ruins left to me, while he crossed the plain

  10. أَستودِعُ اللهَ راحلاً عَجِلاً

    والحيَّ صبحاً على النَّوى عَزَموا

    A doe secure, no hunting she, safe wherever she strays

    If she meets my eyes, or from sight she flees, blest are my days

  11. قلبي إلى ذكْرِه يكادُ مَعَ الدْ

    دمْعِ ارْتياحاً إليه يَنْسَجِم

    Her glance turned hostile, till for her lovers sickness rose

    Let her eyes cease, though she is sick - her illness, not ours, the woe

  12. أصبح يومَ النَّوى وناظرُهُ

    بيني وبينَ الرَّقيبِ مُنْقَسِم

    God's temptress, her beauty misled nations entire

    Deaf idols, as you heard, a people's art inspired

  13. خلَّى رسومَ الدّيارِ لي ومَضَى

    تَطْوي به البيدَ أينُقٌ رُسُم

    Of my troubles, that an idol might entrance me

    Carved of stone his heart, the rest flesh and blood to see

  14. وظَبْيةٍ لا تُصادُ آمِنةٍ

    كُلُّ مكانٍ تَحُلُّه حَرَم

    Heard from his mouth scattered pearls, within arranged genuine

    Said I to Asma benched, whose judgment was between

  15. إنِ سَنحَتْ للعيونِ أو بَرِحَتْ

    لِقاؤها كيف كان مُغْتَنَم

    My heart's wronged that it's named as theirs, while owning they claim

    Said she: "Perfection's perfection we ascribe to its name

  16. تَساقمَتْ عينُها لأعيُنِنا

    حتّى لأَعدَى عُشّاقَها السَّقَم

    As pilgrims to the Kaaba of munificence cling

    A palm forever outstretched - this to its master we bring

  17. فَلْيَهْنِ ألحاظَها وإن سَقُمَتْ

    سُقْمٌ بنا منْه لا بها الأَلَم

    Clouds raining equally on each spot

    Flowing freely, one palm suffices worlds to allot

  18. للهِ فتّانةٌ محاسِنُها

    ضلَّ افْتِتاناً بحُسْنِها أُمَم

    How many with pens are denied their desires

    While pens of others freely yield what they require

  19. أصنامُ قومٍ كما سَمعْتَ بها

    صُمٌّ منَ الصَّخْرِ نَحتُها زَعَموا

    Some are sublime for winners, some for the lowly abase

    When allotted, though from one source all pens trace

  20. ومِنْ عَنائي حتّى تَعبَّدني

    بسِحْرِهِ أن أُتيحَ لي صَنَم

    A wondrous palm wherein two opposites blend

    From it lions and cattle drink, hatred to friendship they rend

  21. من حَجَرٍ قَلْبُه وسائرهُ

    لحْمٌ على صورةِ الدُّمَى ودَم

    Since first the spear it heard, though still straight, now bent

    The sea its copious rain beheld and boiled, turbulent

  22. يُسمَعُ مِن فيهِ وهْو مُنْتَثِرٌ

    دُرٌّ يُرَى فيه وهْو مُنْتَظِم

    O lofty and defender of truths - no flaws ascribed

    Your nobleness by which all nobles are described

  23. قلتُ لأسماءَ وهْيَ جائرةٌ

    حُكْماً وفي بَعْضِ قَولها حِكَم

    Sweet and magnificent traits - nations thereby sealed

    Idols, as heard, deaf rock by false zealots chiseled

  24. ظُلْمٌ لقلبي من الأَحِبَّةِ أنْ

    يُسْمَى بقَلْبي ومُلكُه لَهُم

    Lofty eternally, your height no limit can bind

    All knowledge dwells in you, each branch your stamp signed

  25. قالتْ كمالُ الكمالِ نَنْسِبُهُ

    إليه والوفْدُ فيه يَحْتكِم

    Matchless your presence, none like you, Arab or foreigner

    The only doctrine: nights by your absence are barren

  26. كعبةُ جودٍ للطّارقينَ له

    رُكنُ يدٍ لا يزالُ يُسْتَلَم

    To your library my want I convey and confess

    There knowledge of these words' import one can assess

  27. ذاتُ بنانٍ كالسُّحْبِ ماطِرةٍ

    لكُلِّ قُطْرٍ بقَطْرِها تَسِم

    Many gifts to kings and caliphs, when praised, I was shown

    Those poems now worthless, their high value gone

  28. تَجْري فَيكْفي لأنْ يُدَبِّرَ إق

    ليماً عظيماً بكَفِّه قَلَم

    Woes besiege the nobles' abodes, and ambitions decline

    Intercede, they'll not disappoint when graced by your line

  29. وكم تَرَى في الزَّمانِ أصحابَ أق

    لامٍ لظُفْرٍ بهنَّ ما قَلَموا

    Be an intercessor for those busy, neglected they'll fade

    Like poet by nobility's side, though no pledge was made

  30. ولاخْتلافِ الخُطوطِ ما القَلَمُ ال

    محْسودُ إلاّ سِيّانِ والزَّلَم

    O virtuous and noble in guidance and light

    For this you are the perfect, if they had insight

  31. منْها المُعلَّى للفائزينَ به

    والوَغْدُ أيضاً منها إذا اقْتَسَموا

    Guests you honor, and character you glorify

    Honor and nobility thereby magnified

  32. للهِ إحدَى اليراعِ في يَدِه

    تُراعُ منها الأسودُ والبُهُم

    You gained fame as the high flag its emblem dispread

    My lengthy rambling you suffer, though boredom it bred

  33. مُذْ سَمِعتْ باسْمِها القَنا وهْي في ال

    خَطِّ اعْتراها من خَوْفها صَمَم

    To you I complain of my fate - its events invalid

    Command it do justice, traditions the mighty withheld

  34. ومُذْ رأى البحرُ فَيْضَ نائلها

    أضحَى من الحُزْنِ وهْو يَلْتطِم

    My sole aim: your stature invoke, make my fortune renew

    Men's stature is wealth, when your aura imbued

  35. يا سامياً حامياً حقائقَهُ

    ما ذُمَّ في خُطّةٍ له ذِمَم

    Long live the most high! Long live peace and its reign!

  36. ويا كريماً حُلْواً شَمائلُه

    به كرامُ الأنامِ قد خُتِموا

  37. بمالِ سلطانهِ يَشُحُّ تُقىً

    وكفُّه الدَّهْرَ صَوْبُها دِيَم

  38. شُحٌّ وجُودٌ في الكفِّ منه غدا

    عليهما الحُسنُ وهْو مُنقَسِم

  39. فِدىً لعُلْياهُ كُلُّ ذي حَسَدٍ

    نارُ القِلَى في حَشاهُ تَضْطَرِم

  40. مِنْ مُشْرفٍ مُسرِفٍ لأموالِه

    بَذْلاً ومالُ السُّلطانِ مُنْعَصم

  41. إشرافُه لازمٌ لإشراقِه الدّهْرَ

    فجيشُ الإظلامِ مُنْهَزِم

  42. كَعينِ شمسٍ تَعلو مُهَجِّرةً

    فتَستنيرُ الغِيطانُ والأكَم

  43. لا تَقدِرُ الأرضُ من مَمالكها

    تَكْتُمُ شِبْراً عنها فَينْكَتِم

  44. ولي مَعاشٌ ما زلْتُ آخُذُه

    عفْواً وفي الطّالبين مُزْدَحَم

  45. وللموالي من العنايةِ بي

    ما يَقْتَضي طُولُ ما خدمْتُهُم

  46. قد عَوَّدوني قِدْماً عنايتَهم

    وراضعُ العزِّ ليس يَنْفَطِم

  47. لكنّه حالَ عامُ أوّلَ عنْ

    عهدٍ رعَتْهُ أقوامُه القُدُم

  48. فضاعَ فيه قصائدي وذوو

    عداوتي فيه تمَّ قَصْدُهُم

  49. إدْرارُ سَوءٍ نَزْرٌ مُوفَّرُهُ

    فكيف مِقْدارُهُ إذا ثَلَموا

  50. إطلاقُه كاحْتِباسِه أبداً

    مثْلُ سَرابٍ وجُودُه عَدَم

  51. وأنت مَنْ طالما رجَوتُك أنْ

    تُكْشَفَ عنّي برأيِك الغُمَم

  52. فلْيُجتَهدْ لا يكُنْ لماضيهِ مُسْ

    تقبَلُه ناقصاً كما عَلِموا

  53. إنْ كان في وجهِ عامِ أوّلَ تَعْ

    بيسٌ ففي العام سوف يَبْتَسم

  54. بحُسنِ رأْيٍ لعزّ دينِ هُدىً

    مُستظهِرٌ لم يَزَلْ بهِ الخَدَم

  55. فهْو الَّذي لو أعادَ لي نظراً

    وعاينَ الدَّهرُ كيف يُهْتَضم

  56. إذنْ لعادَ الدَّهرُ المُعانِدُ لي

    من ظُلْمِه يَسْتَحْيي وَيحْتَشِم

  57. ولانْثَنتْ في ظلالِ دولتهِ

    حُسّادُ فَضْلي طُرّاً وقد رَغِموا

  58. فقُلْ له يا سحابَ مكْرُمةٍ

    عليكَ تَمَّتْ كما لكَ النِّعَم

  59. أقولُ إنْ كان مَعشرٌ بَخَسوا

    حَقّي وما كان منه زَجْرُهُم

  60. فأغْنِني عنه يا ابنَهُ كَرماً

    تَعِشْ بنُعْماكَ منّيَ الرِّمَم

  61. فابْنُ ذُكاءٍ بنُورِ غُرّتهِ

    قبلَ ذُكاءٍ كم انْجلَتْ ظُلَم

  62. بل يا كمالاً للدَّهرِ قد عَظُمَتْ

    لأهْلِه عند مجدِه الحُرَم

  63. له العُلا والعلومُ باهرةٌ

    لا صَدَدٌ حدَّها ولا أَمَم

  64. كُلُّ عُلُوٍّ فيه له قِدَمٌ

    وكُلُّ علْمٍ فيه له قَدَم

  65. عَمُّكَ صدْرٌ ما مثلُه أَحَدٌ

    لا عربٌ أبْصرَتْ ولا عَجَم

  66. فما اعتقادُ الأنامِ فيه سوى

    أَنّ اللّيالي بمثْلِه عُقُم

  67. أُهْدي إلى دارِ كُتْبِه فِقَري

    فَثمَّ يُدْرَى ما هذِه الكَلِم

  68. كم للسّلاطينِ والخلائفِ لي

    جَزْلُ عطاءٍ بما امتدَحْتُهُم

  69. واليومَ تلك الأشعارُ قد كسَدتْ

    فغيرُ أَحسْنتَ ما لَهُمْ قِيَم

  70. والخُوزُ حاشا الكرامَ خيّمتِ ال

    همومُ فيه وقُوّضَ الهِمم

  71. فاشفَعْ إليهمْ فما يُخَيّبُ مَنْ

    أنت له شافعٌ إذا كَرُموا

  72. وكنْ شفيعاً منَ الّذينَ لدى

    شُغلٍ إذا لم يُشفَّعوا غَرِموا

  73. جاراً كمَنْ جاورَ الحُطَيئةُ مِفْ

    ضالاً لِما لم يُلْزِمْهُ يَلْتَزِم

  74. يا فاضلاً مُفْضِلاً نُهىً ونَدىً

    لذاك تُسْمَى الكمالَ لو فَهِموا

  75. يُكرِمُ زُوّارَهُ ويَكْرُمُ أخَ

    لاقاً فمنْه الإكْرامُ والكرَم

  76. فُقْتَ اشْتِهاراً كما بدا عَلَمٌ

    مِن فوقه خافقاً بدا عَلَم

  77. طوَّلتُ جِدّاً يا مَنْ تطَوُّلُه

    أَكثرُ مِن أنْ ينالَهُ سَأَم

  78. جِئْتُك أشكو إليك مُلْتجِئاً

    ظُلْمَ زمانٍ أحداثُه حُطَم

  79. فَمُرْهُ يُنْصفْ دَهْري فما يَرسُمُ ال

    مَولَى مُجِدّاً فالعَبْدُ يَرتَسم

  80. وجُلُّ قَصْدي تَجشيمُ جاهِكَ لي

    وجاهُ قومٍ مالٌ إذا جَشِموا

  81. دُمْ للمعالي ما أَسبلَتْ دِيَمٌ

    واسْلَمْ طويلاً ما أورقَ السَّلَم
