A flash of lightning from the distant Levant
Soaring from the buds of clouds
Finding no tears, it shone more brightly
Fearing to be called indifferent
Whenever it was reproached for being weak
It could only smile
My eyelids were enchanted by it and overflowed
For only the enamored are so enchanted
Say to the beloved who made my cheeks rain
Ever since the clouds of sorrow departed
Its gaze shared my sickness and my eyelids
So we shared the most intimate gaze
Sickness left its mark on it and my body
The sickness of the eye, the eye of sickness
I cannot be cured but by
Kissing what is behind the veil
