1. دام عَلاءُ العِمادْ

    فَهْو رَجاءُ العِبادْ

    The pillar of faith, Ala, remains,

    So he is the hope of worshippers.

  2. دام لنا طالِعاً

    فهْو ضِياءُ البِلاد

    As long as he rises for us,

    He is the illumination of countries.

  3. عِمادُ دِينٍ له

    على تُقاه اعْتِماد

    The pillar of a religion for him

    Is to depend on his piety.

  4. فَحُبُّه سُنّهٌ

    والمَيْلُ عنْهُ ارتِداد

    So loving him is Sunnah,

    And leaning away from him is apostasy.

  5. ليس لدِينِ الهُدى

    إلاّ بهِ الاعْتِضاد

    There is no true religion

    Except through his support.

  6. ولا يعَاديهِ مَن

    صَحّ لَه الاعتِقاد

    And none who believes rightly

    Would oppose him.

  7. أوحَدُ في دولةٍ

    مُشْتَهِرُ الاتّحِاد

    Unique in a state

    Of widespread unity.

  8. مُنْفَردٌ بالعُلا

    والمَجدِ أيَّ انِفراد

    Singular in glory

    And excellence, what glory!

  9. وعارِضٌ كفُّه

    كعارِضٍ حينَ جاد

    An opponent whose palm

    Is like one who is generous when he gives.

  10. بُروقُه للعِدا

    بِيضُ السّيوفِ الحِداد

    His lightnings for the enemy

    Are the bare, polished swords.

  11. وسَيْلُه سَيْبُه ال

    فيّاضُ في كلِّ ناد

    And his flood overflows

    Every stream.

  12. فالمَجْدُ لم يَحْوِهِ

    غَيرُ شجاعٍ جَواد

    Glory did not encompass him

    Other than a brave, generous man.

  13. له يَدٌ لم تَزلْ

    تَصْدُرُ منها أياد

    He has a hand that has not ceased

    To issue great favours.

  14. عادتُه أنّه

    إنْ بدأ العُرفَ عاد

    His custom is that

    If the honorable start, he returns.

  15. قبلَ خُلُوِّ الدّيارِ

    ساس لعَمْري وساد

    Before the lands were empty

    He laid its foundation and pillow.

  16. فاليومَ لا غَرْوَ إن

    ألْقَوا إليه المَقاد

    So today there is no wonder

    If they gave him leadership.

  17. حامٍ حِمَى دولةٍ

    يُحِسنُ عنها الذِّياد

    Guarding a state

    Who treats it kindly.

  18. صَدْرُ الورى صَدْرُها

    وهُو لَهُ كالفُؤاد

    Its chest is his chest

    And he is to it like a heart.

  19. مُهَوِّنٌ عَزْمُهُ

    عنها الخُطوبَ الشِّداد

    His determination

    Alleviates its harsh afflictions for it.

  20. طَوْراً جِدالٌ له

    عنها وطَوراً جِلاد

    Sometimes he contends for it

    And other times he fights for it.

  21. أقلامُه دونَها

    تَجمَعُ شَمْلَ الصِّعاد

    His pens without it

    Gather the scattered summits.

  22. والبِيضَ مُذَروِبَةٍ

    والخيلَ قُودَ الهَواد

    And the whites of drawn swords

    And the steeds of the valley.

  23. والسُّمْرَ محمولةً

    فوق نواصي الجِياد

    And the brown hilts

    Borne on the forelocks of steeds.

  24. تُصبِح من خَوفِه

    دائمةَ الارْتِعاد

    From fear of him they awake

    Constantly quaking.

  25. تُمِدُّ راياتِهمُ

    آراؤه بالسَّداد

    His opinions guide them

    Rightly to the path of guidance.

  26. بهِنَّ يَهدِيهمُ

    إلى سَبيلِ الرَّشاد

    An opponent of two armies

    Of strong leadership.

  27. عارِضُ جيشَيْنِ لل

    مُلْكِ شَدِيدَيْ قِياد

    An army and opinion with him

    Defeats the troops of enemies.

  28. جيشٌ ورأْيٌ بهِ

    يَهزِمُ جُنْدَ الأعاد

    If heads become ripe

    He reaps them in harvest.

  29. إنْ أَينعَتْ أَرؤُسٌ

    جَدَّلها في الحَصاد

    O you who benefited the land

    With your rising, what benefit!

  30. يا مَن أَفاد الورى

    مَطلَعُه ما أَفاد

    Your wealth enriched them

    Beyond equipment or supplies.

  31. يُمْنُك أَغناهُمُ

    عن عُدَّةٍ أَو عَتاد

    So the army is a virtue, then,

    For the kingdom on the day of plunder.

  32. فالجيشُ فَضْلٌ إذن

    للمُلْكِ يَومَ الطِّراد

    O you whose opinion

    Is relied on in difficulties!

  33. يا مَن إلى رأْيِهِ

    في النُّوَبِ الاستناد

    And whose plains

    Are accustomed to generosity.

  34. ومَن بساحاتِه

    للكَرمِ الارتياد

    A face whose water

    Quenches every thirsty one.

  35. وجْهٌ تَرَى ماءَهُ

    يَرْوِى به كلَّ صاد

    And speech whose beauty

    Increases with debate.

  36. ومَنْطِقٌ حُسْنُه

    يَزيدُ بالانتِقاد

    And manner that resembled

    A drink of fresh, cool water.

  37. وشِيمةٌ أَشْبَهَتْ

    شَرْبَةَ عَذْبٍ بِراد

    From it affection for him

    Is implanted in each loving heart.

  38. يُغْرَسُ منها له

    في كلِّ قلبٍ وِداد

    So each word of his

    Is appreciated for its beauty.

  39. فكُلُّ لفْظٍ له

    من حُسنِه يُستَعاد

    And each meaning of his

    Is admired for its artistry.

  40. وكُلُّ معنىً له

    في فَنِّه يُستَجاد

    And every blessing that came

    To be obtained from his palm.

  41. وكلُّ نُعمَى غَدتْ

    من كَفّه تُستَفاد

    The eyes of his enviers

    Are reddened with wakefulness.

  42. عُيونُ حُسّاده

    مكحولةٌ بالسُّهاد

    As if their eyelids

    Are their shields against spears.

  43. كأنّ أَجفانَهم

    أَهدابُها من قَتاد

    He is the resolute one

    Who subdues the stubborn people.

  44. هو الهُمامُ الّذي

    يُرغِمُ أَهل العِناد

    Fulfilling covenants in peace

    And frightening in calamity and arms.

  45. في السِّلْمِ وافيِ القِرى

    والرَّوْعِ وارِي الزِّناد

    Of generous character whose mention

    Is praised by every praiser.

  46. ذو كرمٍ ذِكْرُه

    يَحْدو به كلُّ حاد

    The paths to his patrons

    Are blocked to the stingy.

  47. لطُرْقِ وُرَّادِه

    بالصّادرين انسِداد

    But his purpose cannot be prevented,

    Only almost.

  48. وليس عن قَصْدِه

    تَمْنَعُ لكنْ تَكاد

    He destroys his wealth

    For the sake of glory built.

  49. يَهدِمُ أَموالَه

    من أَجلِ مجدٍ يُشاد

    The palms of the people thereby

    Become full after emptiness.

  50. تُمْسِي أُكُفُّ الورى

    من حاضرٍ بعد باد

    As if they are springs

    And the irrigation from them is slumber.

  51. كأنّها أَعيُنٌ

    والرِّفدُ منها الرُّقاد

    His structure with bricks

    Makes the inanimate speak.

  52. بنانُه بالْلُها

    مُستنطِقاتُ الجمَاد

    There is no deviation

    From his path by the praise of people.

  53. ما لثَناءِ الورى

    عن نَهْجِه من حِياد

    It picks him out with dew

    While praise is the game that is hunted.

  54. يَقْنِصُه بالنّدى

    والحَمْدُ وحْشٌ يُصاد

    Below you, a carriage

    That every singer travels.

  55. دونَك سَيّارةً

    يَشْدو بها كلُّ شاد

    Whose proud verses

    Are repeated until the return.

  56. غَرّاءَ أَبياتُها

    تُعادُ حتّى المَعاد

    From its circulation there wafts

    Its narrators in every assembly.

  57. يَعبِقُ من نَشْرِها

    رُواتُها كُلُّ ناد

    One who is generous must necessarily

    Be praised by one who is skilled.

  58. لا بُدّ مَن جاد أَن

    يَمدحَهُ مَن أَجاد

    And the sword of glory has none

    But the poems of maidens.

  59. وما لسَيْفِ العُلا

    إلاَّ القوافي نِجاد

    The markets of our poems

    Have exaggerated in loss.

  60. أَسواقُ أَشعارِنا

    قد أَسْرفَتْ في الكساد

    So be angry with us angrily

    To fertilize that which is desired.

  61. فاغْضَبْ لنا غَضْبةً

    يُخصِبُ منها المَراد

    And be pleased to visit us

    After distance.

  62. واسعَدْ بزَوْرٍ دنا

    إليك بعد البِعاد

    For us to become accustomed

    To return each year.

  63. في كُلِّ عامٍ لنا

    للعَوْدِ فيه اعْتياد

    The pillar of guidance visited,

    So his success is increasing.

  64. زار عِمادُ الهدَى

    فيُمْنُه في ازْدياد

    A month glories for you

    In your pride of custom.

  65. يَهْنيك شَهْرٌ له

    من فَخْرِك الاعتِياد

    And his happiness took him

    To it, what a taking!

  66. واقْتاده سَعْدُهُ

    إليه أَيَّ اقْتِياد

    A noble month for it

    The scent of bliss and meadows.

  67. شَهْرٌ شَريفٌ له

    رائحُ سَعْدٍ وغَاد

    Its day silencing

    From food for devotion.

  68. نَهارُه مُلْجِمٌ

    للنُسكِ عن أَكْلِ زاد

    And its night whitening the people

    After mourning.

  69. وليلُه للورى

    بُيِّضَ بعد الحِداد

    Its lantern was taught

    To light from your mind.

  70. عُلِّمَ مِصْباحُه

    من ذِهْنِك الاتِّقاد

    The abundant light

    Upon lowlands and swamps.

  71. كَثْرةُ نوارهِ

    على الرُّبا والوِهاد

    It scrubbed its garment

    So it has no blackness.

  72. قد رحَضَتْ ثَوْبَه

    فما بهِ مِن سَواد

    Thus the sins of the people

    Are erased like erasing ink.

  73. كذا خطايا الورى

    تَمْحو كمَحْو المِداد

    So remain for its like

    What fate has repeated.

  74. فابْقَ لأمثاله

    ما كَرَّ حَوْلٌ مُعاد

    Its days will come to you

    In power, constantly.

  75. تَأتيكَ أَيّامُها

    في العِزِّ ذاتَ اطِّراد

    In blessings that meet

    Returning with parting.

  76. في نِعَمٍ تَلْتَقي

    عوائدٌ مَعْ بَواد

    And a state whose life

    Has no end.

  77. ودولةٍ عُمْرُها

    ما لمَداهُ نَفاد

    Lofty in its shade

    Attaining the ultimate desire.

  78. عَلياءَ في ظِلِّها

    تُدْرِكُ أَقصَى المُراد
