1. إنْ أقمرَ اللَّيلُ للسّارينَ في حَضَنِ

    فلْيَعلَمِ الرَّكْبُ أنّ البدْرَ في الظُّعُنِ

    ولا المُقنَّعُ في صَحبي فيَسْحرَني

  7. كم من قِطارٍ لها خلْفَ القطِارِ لهمْ

    تَسْتَنُّ والعِيسُ والحادي على سَنَن

  8. أجْرَى دموعي وحتّى اليومَ مارقأَتْ

    سِرٌّ به الإلْفُ لمّا سارَ حَدَّثني

  9. كأنّما خرَقتْ كفُّ الوَداعِ إلى

  13. تُعزَى بمُنْتَسبٍ منها ومُنْتقَبٍ

  14. فلَيْتَهُ لم يَبِنْ ذلك الهلالُ لنا

    أوْ لَيْتَهُ بعدَ أن قد بانَ لم يَبِن

  15. إجمَعْ بجُهْدِكَ شَمْلَ القومِ تَصْحَبُهمْ

    ما دام دَهْرُكَ بالتَّفريقِ ليس يَني

    Bring together with your effort the companionship of the people

    As long as your time is not over with separation

  16. واجْعَلْ بماء ندىً تَجري يَداكَ به

    رِداءَ عِرضكَ مَرْحوضاً من الدَّرَن

    And make the water of dew that flows from your hand

    A garment for your honor, scrubbed from pearls

  17. وافْخَرْ بمَغْناكَ في الدُّنيا وكنْ رَجلاً

    إنْ شئْتَ من مُضَرٍ أو شئتَ من يَمَن

    And take pride in your independence in this world and be a man

    Whether you wish from Mudar or you wish from Yemen

  18. بيتُ العَلاء كبيتِ الشِّعرِ صاحبُه

    إنْ لم يَزِنْه بإحسانٍ له يَشِن

    The home of nobility is like the home of poetry, its owner

    If he does not weigh it with benevolence, it will tarnish him

  19. بَيْتانِ يُكسِبُ كلٌّ منهما شَرَفاً

    بقَدْرِ ما فيه من مَعْنىً عليه بُنِي

    Two homes, each earns prestige

    To the extent of what it contains of meaning upon which it is built

  20. إنّي امْرؤٌ أضَعُ الأقوالَ مَوْضعَها

    فإنْ أرابكَ منّي ذاك فامْتَحِن

    I am a man who places words in their proper places

    If that confuses you about me, then examine me

  21. مَظِنَّتي حيثُ حَلَّ العِزُّ حُبْوتَه

    والذُّلُّ لم أرهُ يوماً ولم يَرَني

    My reputation wherever honor pitched its tents

    And humiliation, I never saw it one day nor did it see me

  22. ولا تَرَى مِدْحتي كُفْؤاً إذا نُظِرَتْ

    إلاّ إذا أصبحَتْ تُجْلَى على حَسَن

    You will not see my praise suitable if viewed

    Except if it appears clarified by beauty

  23. أعنْي الإمامَ ابْنَ سَلْمانَ الَّذي طلعَتْ

    عُلياهُ شادِخةً في بُهْمَةِ الزَّمَن

    I mean the Imam Ibn Salman who the peaks of his prominence emerged

    Towering in the gloom of time

  24. إذا مدَحْنا جمالَ الدّينِ أطْرَبنا

    إهداءُ مَدْحٍ له بالصِّدْقِ مُقْتَرِن

    When we praise Jamal al-Din we are delighted

    The dedication of sincere praise to him is coupled

  25. قاضي قُضاةِ بلادٍ قد أُتيحَ لها

    منه مُقيمُ فُروضِ المَجْدِ والسُّنَن

    The judge of the judges of the countries which through him

    The duties of glory and tradition were established

  26. مُهَذَّبٌ وُقيَتْ فينا خلائقُه

    من شائبِ الوَصْمَتيْنِ البُخلِ والجُبُن

    He is refined, and through us his manners were protected

    From the stain of both stinginess and cowardice

  27. يُمناهُ واليُمْنُ إن لاقَيْتَهُ وكذا

    يُسراهُ واليُسْرُ مَقْرونانِ في قَرَن

    His right and rightness if you meet him and similarly

    His left and ease are coupled in one companion

  28. في كلِّ رَجْعةِ طَرْفٍ منه من كَرمٍ

    إنجادُ ألْفِ فتىً بالدّهرِ مُمْتَحَن

    With every glance from him out of generosity

    Is the preparation of a thousand tested men through time

  29. إن قاسَ سَدَّدَ نحْوَ الحقِّ نَظْرتَه

    أَو ساس أصبح لم يَخْشُنْ ولم يَلِن

    If he adjudicated he leaned towards truth with his view

    Or if he ruled he did not become harsh or soft

  30. المَلْكُ كالعَبْدِ إنْصافاً إذا اخْتَصما

    لدَيهِ في حادثٍ والعِيُّ كاللَّسَن

    The king is like the servant with justice if they disputed

    Before him in an incident and the powerful like the weak

  31. يُدني مُحِقّاً ويُقْصي مُبْطِلاً أبداً

    فهكذا مَن يُعينُ الدّينَ فَلْيُعَن

    He brings near the rightful and distances the false forever

    So it is with those who support the religion, may they be supported

  32. كأنّ أقلامَه المُصماةَ إذ طَعنَتْ

    في ثُغرةِ الخَطْبِ أطرافُ القنا اللُّدُن

    It is as if his decisive pens when they stabbed

    In the throat of calamities, the tips of the firm spear

  33. مِثْلُ السّهامِ نَفاذاً في مَقاصدِها

    لكنَّهنَّ على الإسلامِ كالجُنَن

    Are like arrows in their aims

    But they are for Islam like protective shields

  34. تَجِلُّ عن زُخْرُفِ الدُّنْيا فلو أُمرَتْ

    بكَتْبِ سَطْرٍ لغَيرِ الدِّينِ لم تَدِن

    They refrain from the vanity of this world, so if they were ordered

    To write a line for other than the religion, they would not come near

  35. إليكَ تَرْجِعُ حُكّامُ البِلادِ إذا

    ما أشكَل الأمرُ عند الحازمِ الفَطِن

    To you the rulers of the countries return if

    The matter becomes difficult for the decisive, keen one

  36. كأنّك الشَّمسُ للدُّنْيا إذا طلعَتْ

    تقاسمَ النُّورَ منها ساكنو المُدُن

    It is as if you are the sun for the world, when it rises

    It shares its light with the residents of cities

  37. كأنّما أنت بيتُ اللهِ بينهُمُ

    فوجْهُ كلِّ امرئٍ منهمْ إلى رُكُن

    It is as if you are the house of God among them

    So the face of each one of them is towards a pillar

  38. فَلْيَهْنِ أعمالَ خُوزِسْتانَ إذ رُزِقَتْ

    إقبالَ طَبٍّ بأسرارِ العُلا طَبِن

    So the deeds of Khuzistan rejoice when it was granted

    The return of a good man with the secrets of nobility are delightful

  39. وِلايةٌ كان من مَيْلٍ إليه بها

    ما بالغربيةِ من شَوْقٍ إلى الوطَن

    A governance that he had an inclination towards it

    Like the west has of yearning to the homeland

  40. حتّى استقرَّتْ على ذي مِرَّةٍ يَقظٍ

    تُقاهُ قِسمانِ من بادٍ ومُكْتَمِن

    Until it settled upon one of insight and wakefulness

    Whom two types of desert and concealed protect

  41. يُقلِّدُ الشُّغْلَ نُوّاباً وقَلَّدَه

    دُرّاً من المَدْحِ أقوامٌ ذوو فِطَن

    He delegates authority to deputies and it adorned him

    With a pearl of praise from people of insight

  42. لكنْ لتَقْليدِنا الغالي من الثَّمَنِ ال

    أوفَى وتَقليدهُ الخالي منَ الثّمَن

    But our precious dedication is not equal

    And his empty dedication is without price

  43. لكَ المدائحُ منّا دائماً ولنا

    منكَ المنائحُ تتَرْى يا أخا المِنَن

    For you are praise from us always, and for us

    From you are gifts that come, O brother of favors

  44. عَمْري لقد أحزنَ الماضي بفَجْعَتهِ

    لكنْ بقاؤك أضحَى مُذْهِبَ الحَزَن

    My life, indeed the past saddened with its loss

    But your survival has become the remover of grief

  45. غُصْنانِ من دوحةٍ لمّا ذَوى غُصُنٌ

    بعَصْفةٍ للرَّدَى مِلْنا إلى غُصُن

    Two branches from a palm tree, when one branch withered

    With a gust to destruction, we leaned to a branch

  46. أوهَتْ رزيئةُ هذا منّةً وأَتَتْ

    أيّامُ هذا فأهدَتْ قُوّةَ المنَن

    The days of this one inspired weakness, and the days

    Of this one came and gifted the strength of favor

  47. فاسعَدْ بتَوْليةٍ جاءتكَ راكضةً

    عَجْلَى الخُطا مثْلَ ركضِ السّابقِ الأَرِن

    So be happy with a governance that came to you rushing

    Hastily with quick steps like the galloping of a racer

  48. أعطاكَها اللهُ عفْواً إذ رآكَ لها

    أهلاً وإعطاءُ غيرِ اللهِ غيرُ هَني

    God gave it to you freely when He saw you worthy for it

    And the giving of other than God is not praised

  49. وبان للصّاحبِ الميمونِ طائرُه

    حُسنُ اخْتيارٍ لدينِ اللهِ أعجبَني

    And the auspicious companion’s bird appeared

    The beauty of choosing the religion of God amazed me

  50. لمّا انْتضَى بكَ سيفَ الرّأي مُنْصلِتاً

    على زمانٍ على الأحرار مُصْطَغِن

    When the sword of opinion extracted itself sharpened over

    A time that was imposing on the free

  51. يا ابْنَ الَّذي طالما قد كان أعجبَه

    صفْوُ الولاءِ له منّي وشَرَّفني

    O son of one who the finest loyalty to him

    From me always delighted him and honored me

  52. نوعانِ وُدّيَ مَوْروثٌ ومُكْتَسَبٌ

    لستُ البعيدَ فأبغي مَنْ يُقرِّبُني

    Two types of friendship inherited and acquired

    I am not far off so I want one who brings me near

  53. أستغفِرُ اللهَ إلاّ من مديحكمُ

    فإنّني فيه لم أكذِبْ ولم أَهُن

    I seek God's forgiveness except from praise of you

    For in it I have not lied nor let down

  54. أقسمتُ جُهداً بما طافَ الحجيجُ به

    وما أهلُّوا وما ساقوا منَ البُدُن

    I swore vigorously by what the pilgrims circumambulated

    And what they declared and what they brought of bodies

  55. وكُلَّ أروعَ عاري المَنكِبَيْنِ ضُحىً

    يَهْوي إليه على رَوعاءَ كالفَدَن

    And all the most wondrous bare shoulder ones who at dawn

    Plunge towards it over the breastbones like insects

  56. لأشكُرَنَّ الّذي تُوليه من منَنٍ

    ما عشتُ شكراً كشُكر الرّوضِ للمُزُن

    Surely I will thank the one you have given favor

    As long as I live with thanks like the meadow for rain

  57. هذا على أنّه ما إن لديَّ سوى

    شكرٍ بسابقِ ما أولَيْتَ مُرْتَهَن

    This is on the condition that I only have

    Thanks in advance for what you first bestowed pledged

  58. إنّي بحبلِك بعدَ اللهِ مُعْتَصمٌ

    لدى الإقامةِ منّي أو لدَى الظَّعَن

    I am holding onto your rope after God

    During my stay or stabbing

  59. فاسلَمْ لنا يا ابنَ سَلمانٍ سلامةَ ذي

    دِينٍ على نَصْرِ أهلِ الدّينِ مُؤْتَمن

    So be safe for us O son of Salman, the safety of one

    Of religion, for supporting the people of religion entrusted

  60. ودُمْ فأنت الإمامُ ابنُ الإمام لنا

    في العِزِّ ما صدحَتْ ورقاءُ في فَنَن

    And last, for you are the Imam son of the Imam for us
