1. تَعْساً لمَنْ لا تَستهِلُّ بَنانُه

    إلاّ لكلِّ لئيم قَومٍ ناقِص

    Woe to him whose goodness is not spent

    Except for every vile and mean person

  2. الحُرُّ من عَمَّ الأنامَ سَماحةً

    كَرماً وخَصَّ أُولي النُّهَى بخَصائص

    The freeman is he who bestows freely upon mankind

    Generosity, and reserves the choicest gifts for the virtuous

  3. فيكونُ كالبحرِ الخِضَمِّ سَحابُه

    للعالَمينَ ودُرُّه للغائص

    So he becomes like a heavy clouded sea

    Whose pearls belong to the diver alone
