بِجَناب مِثلِكَ تُضرب الأَمثالُ

وَالبَحرُ أَنتَ وَما سِواكَ الآلُ

With your stature, proverbs are coined

You are the sea, and apart from you all else is naught

قَلَدتَني نعماً تَعاظم قَدرُها

وَأَزاحَ أَدباري بِها الاقبالُ

You endowed me with blessings, great is their value

With them good fortune came my way

إِن لَم أَزُركَ فَمانِعي وَمدافعي

عَن ذَلِكَ الإِجلال لا الإِخلالُ

If I do not visit you, what keeps me

Is veneration, not disregard
