وَقاريءٌ يُمعن في دَرسِهِ

نَفس المُحبين فَدا نَفسِهِ

A reader immersed in his lesson

The lover's soul he gave for his soul

معجم يَشبَه بَدر الدُجى

مُكور الشَمس عَلى رَأسِهِ

A lexicon like the full moon of darkness

The sun coiled around his head

غُصن فُؤادي صارَ رَوضاً لَهُ

قَد أَبدَع الغارس في غَرسِهِ

A branch of my heart became a garden for him

For the planter has excelled in his planting
