A garden where water flows beneath its shade

Like a frightened owl or a polished sword

With which the rose seller etched

The eyes of an intoxicated gazelle

And with which the drops of dew seemed

Like scattered pearls on an emerald carpet

And its tender greenery is as though it were

The cheeks of a maiden lit up in the glow of youth

The morning breeze intoxicated me with its fragrance

On that day I lost all sense of yesterday or tomorrow

And I imagined the fireflies in its groves

Were rubies glittering in a sky of aquamarine

    Until the sun rose like

A veiled bride adorned with sapphires
