قَد كانَ مَسكَني الرِياض وَإِنَّني
أنسيتُها حَتّى كَأَن لَم تُخلَق
My dwelling was once in gardens, and yet
I've forgotten them as though never made.
وَوِصال مَن أَهواه لَيسَ بِمقنعي
زَمَناً فَرحتُ وَلِلفراق تَشوّقي
Reunion with my love cannot console me;
Once I rejoiced, now for parting I yearned.
