وَأَظنهُ لِلروح مِني وارِثا

Slow down, your love seems to me unsettled

مَن ذا الَّذي أَلوى بِعَهدك في الهَوى

حَتذى اِنثَنيت عَن المَودة ناكِثا

Who else could I wish in love but you?

Though you may change, forsaking affection

جَرَبت فيكَ الحادِثات فَلَم أَجد

مثل الرَقيب إِذا خَلَونا حادِثا

I've tried with you adventures but found

None like my watcher when we're alone

يا مشبه الآرام إِلّا أَنَّهُ

خَلَقت لَنا عَيناهُ سِحراً نافِثا

You who resemble the gentle gazelles

Except that your eyes cast magic, enchanting

قَد راحَ بِالقَمرين طَرفي هازِياً

لَما رَأى في بردتيك الثالثا

The two moons of your eyes have wandered

When they saw a third in your mantle
