1. وافى الرَبيع فَما عَلَيك بعار

    خَلع العذار وَلا اِرتِشاف عَقار

    Spring has come, so do not reproach,

    Take off your veil, drink the nectar.

  2. صَهباءَ لَيسَ يَجوز عِندي مَزجَها

    إِلّا بِريقة شادن مِعطار

    The blond wine, I do not allow its mixing,

    Except with the scented cherry syrup.

  3. تَدَع الدُجا صُبحاً إِذا هِيَ أَبرَزَت

    فَكَأَنَّها اِعتَصَرَت مِن الأَنوار

    Leave the night's gloom in the morning, when it

    Looks as if it extracted lights from the sky.

  4. قَم هاتَها حَيث الهِذار قَد اِغتَدى

    في الأَيك مُنعَكِفاً عَلى التهدار

    Rise to where the gazelles have become bold

    Crouching in the meadow engulfed in the grass.

  5. طَير أَعار الغُصن جنكا ركبت

    أَوتارُهُ مِن فضة الأَمطار

    A bird whose branch was lent grace nested,

    Its strings made of the silver of rain.

  6. وَتَبثّهُ ريح الصِبا وَيَبثها

    ذكر الهَوى مِن سالف الأَعصار

    The north wind scatters it and scatters

    The memory of love from past eras.

  7. وَاِنهَض لِنغتنم الشَبيبة قَبل أَن

    يَرمي المشيب الصَفو بِالأَكدار

    Let's rise to make the most of youth before

    Grey hair throws dust into the bowls of life.

  8. وَاِشرَب عَلى وَرد الربا إِن لَم تَجد

    وَرد الخُدود لِقلة الدِينار

    Drink rose wine if cheeks’ roses you cannot find

    For lack of gold dinars.

  9. وَاِنصب بِفكرك في الهَوى شرك المُنى

    لِوُقوع ظلّ أَو خَيال ساري

    Set your thoughts on love and desire’s traps

    For a shadow or passing image to fall.

  10. هَذا وَلَستُ أَرى إِذا فَقد الَّذي

    أَهوى جِنان الخُلد غَير النار

    This, while I see that if I lose the one

    I love, I find no paradise but fire.

  11. هَيهات ما الناي الرَخيم وَنَشوة ال

    خمر القَديم وَنَغمة الأَوتار

    Alas! Neither the soft reed flute nor old

    Wine’s intoxication nor tones from the strings,

  12. وَحَنين هَينمة الرِياح عَشية

    وَتُرسل الأَطيار في الأَسحار

    Nor the evening moan of winds when

    Birds are sent off at dawn,

  13. عِندي بِأَحسَن مِن مُساجَلة الأحب

    ة بِالصَبابة في سَنا الأَقمار

    Are as beautiful to me as conversing with the one I

    Love at the moonlit peak of life.

  14. مِن كُلِ مَعبود الجَمال مُحكَم

    فيما يَشا مُستعبد الأَحرار

    The one whose beauty enslaves the free

    Can do as he pleases.
