تَرانا كَرَكب وَالمَنايا تَقودَنا
وَمِن خَلفِنا يَدعو الرَحيلَ حَثيث
You see us as a caravan, while the fates lead us,
and behind us, an urgent caller summons us to depart.
وَما نَحنُ إِلّا كَالنَبات مَثابة
عَلى الأَرض مِنهُ طيب وَخَبيث
We are nothing but like vegetation, returning again
upon the earth—some of it wholesome, and some corrupt.
