Oh Abel, how long my yearning for you has been
And fear of parting has cured me
I pass the nights drunk, complaining of my afflictions
For what has made me suffer and what I endure
As if from passion for you I'm a bedfellow
Whose soul writhes between the bedsheets
I swore to you at dawn, so believe me
By the Lord of the house and the seven solid heavens
For you are to my heart more beloved
Than wine is to the thirsty drinker's cup
