ما لِجَديدِ المَوتِ يا بِشرُ لَذَّةٌ
وَكُلُّ جَديدٍ تُستَلَذُّ طَرائِفُه
What pleasure is there in death's novelty, O mortal
Every novelty, its aspects bring delight
فَلا ضَيرَ إِنَّ اللَهَ يا بِشرُ ساقَني
إِلى بَلَدٍ جاوَرتُ فيهِ خَلائِفُه
So no harm, God has led me, O mortal
To a land, where I dwelled with its successors
فَلَستُ وَإِن عَيشٌ تَوَلّى بِجازِعٍ
وَلا أَنا مِمّا حَمَّمَ المَوتُ خائِفُه
So I'm not one whom death has made fearful
Even if life turns away in earnest
