1. أَبناءُ طَلحَةَ طابوا بالنَّدى مُهَجاً

    إِذ طَيَّبَ المَجدُ وَالعَلياءُ محتِدَهُم

    The sons of Talha have been scented with the dew,

    When glory and nobility have scented their gathering,

  2. فَأَمسُهُم قاصِرٌ عَن يَومِهم شَرَفاً

    وَيَومُهُم حاسِدٌ في فَضلِهِم غَدَهُمْ

    So their past falls short of their day in nobility,

    And their day is envious of their future in virtue.

  3. صَغيرُهُم كَكَبيرٍ في اِقتِناء عُلا

    مَن تَلقَ مِنهُم تَقلْ لا قَيتُ سَيِّدَهُمْ

    Their small one is like their elder in attaining elevation,

    Whoever meets them, says I have met their master.
