دَعاني إِلى الصَهباءِ وَاللَيلُ عاقِدٌ
نواصيهِ ظَبيٌ في فُؤادي كِناسُهُ
Let me tell of the night he called me to walk
With him, while the doe in my heart
وَبِتُّ لَقىً مِن عَتبِهِ وَمُدامِهِ
وَريقَتِهِ وَاللَيلُ ضافٍ لِباسُهُ
Brushed by. And I lay with him till the break of dawn,
Befuddled, as the Pleiades untied their sashes.
فأَسكَرَني وَالنَّجمُ مُرخٍ نِطاقَهُ
جَنى الرِّيقِ لا ما أُرعِفَتْ مِنهُ كاسُهُ
The nectar I drank was not what spills
From a cup, but the kiss of his mouth.
