When the doves of Al-Elat coo,
what passion mixes with their moan!
My ears cannot tire of their song—
only the echo resounds within.
Between my ribs, from my suffering,
stirs a yearning their coos awaken.
Tears flowed when her eyelids blinked,
weeping while love was plain to see.
My eyes brimmed with tears that poured
ceaselessly—who then feels more pain than me?
