Upon the languid eyes she sleeps from

A vigil that greets his eyelids, wakeful,

So his heart's confined like her bracelet,

And his pillow's restless like her kerchief.

I embraced her while the stars slumbered

And the horizon in the dark conversed.

I kissed her while the night from a palace

Had almost kissed the dawn, radiant, pure.

On a bed virtuous, honoring chastity,

Noble, adhering to the hems of piety.

Then we parted when suddenly surprised

By morn whose light the eyes did share.

Upon her cheek, my tears left moisture,

And in my palm, her scent left fragrance.
