1. وَحاكيَةٍ للرِّيمِ جيداً وَمُقلَةً

    لَها نظراتٌ لا يُنادي وليدُها

    With a narration well-suited for poetry and captivating,

    It has glances no youngster of hers calls out to,

  2. فَتُتلِفُ بالأولى إِذا ابتدأَت بِها

    نفوساً وبالأُخرى إلينا تعيدها

    So it destroys souls with the first, if she begins with it,

    And with the other returns them to us.

  3. تُميتُ وَتحيي مَن تَشاءُ بِنظرةٍ

    فماذا تُرى لو عاونَ العينَ جِيدها

    It kills and revives whoever it wishes with a glance -

    What then do you think if her hands assisted her eyes?
