We stood where justice had extended its porch,

And generosity and gallantry covered its corners.

Above the throne was the son of kings, Muhammad,

Before whose awe people bowed down.

I was gripped by the misstep of my feet before him,

Even though the timidity of my nature held me back.

That was a position I could not fully appreciate

If the head did not bow down before the feet.

If my legs stumble, my words have no fault,

And how many honorable men have slipped.

You are the one who lifted me to the pinnacle of glory,

So I have none but the bright stars as my bosom friends.
