وَمُعَرَّسٍ لِلَّهْوِ يَسْحَبُ ذَيْلَهُ
فِيهِ السَّحابُ وَطَيْرُهُ يَتَرنَّمُ
And a parade for revelry trails its skirt,
In it the clouds, and its birds murmur songs.
زُرْنا الرِّياضَ بهِ وَقَدْ بَسطَ الخُطا
فِيها الصَّبا وَشَقيقُها يَتَبَسَّمُ
We visited the gardens with it, and it spread the carpets,
In it the breeze, and its rose smiles.
فَكَأنّما نُشِرَتْ بِهِنَّ غَلائِلٌ
خُضْرٌ أُريقَ على حَواشِيها الدَّمُ
So it seemed as if green braids were displayed
Green, shed upon its edges, the sap.
