وَقَد سَئِمتُ مُقامِي بَينَ شِرذِمَةٍ
إِذا نَظَرتُ إِلَيهِم قَطَّبَتْ هِمَمي
I'm tired of living amongst the rabble,
When I look at them, my will sours.
أَراذِلٌ مَلَكوا الدُّنيا وَأَوجُهُهُم
لَم يَكشِفِ الفَقرَ عَنها بَهجَةُ النِّعَمِ
The dregs own the world, yet on their faces,
Poverty has not unveiled the radiance of bounty.
