The grief left Salma's abode and those ruins
As if the wrists erased their bracelets
And unrestrained sorrow made my tears flow
Can you relate, my friend, and understand it?
It is the house whose valleys the torrents crossed
Stirring sorrows, so where is its light?
Weakened by the gaze of passersby, decrepit
Its wraparound dress drapes down in shame
I stood there crying, remembering its glory
Its springs flowed, and its hills were verdant
My tears freely flowed in agony
From the passion, igniting my soul aflame
I recall a night I crossed its streams in yearning
Spent the night reminiscing of Salma's secrets
I shook off my cloak from all doubts
Lest dishonor taints me from its blame
