Spare me your blame, O son of Salim,
My passion hurled arrows at the tents of my enemies.
I pass by their abodes stealthily, watching for their negligence,
And when I find them off guard, I pounce.
If not for desire, I would not have followed the deceits of fate.
So do not hope for a misstep from one so steadfast.
O time, why did you separate me from my beloved,
What do you gain from scattering my gathering?
I have a burning liver, here, I cast it to you,
Shatter it as you wish, crush and pulverize it.
