1. وَمُفِيقِينَ مِنَ اللَّهْ

    وِ نَشاوَى مِنْ مِراحِ

    Awakened by God's grace,

    Revived by gentle breezes,

  2. أَلِفُوا الجِدَّ وَلَمْ يَنْ

    تَهِجُوا طُرْقَ المِزاحِ

    They embraced duty and shunned

    The ways of jest and amusement.

  3. فَهُمُ الأُسْدُ عَلى جُرْ

    دٍ عِتاقٍ كَالسِّراحِ

    They are lions poised to pounce,

    Free souls roaming the wild.

  4. يَمْتَطي أَبْطالُهُمْ مِنْ

    هُنَّ أَثْباجَ الرِّياحِ

    Their heroes ride the backs

    Of raging winds unfurled.

  5. سَحَبُوا أَذْيالَ نَقْعٍ

    لَيْلُهُ وَحْفُ الجَناحِ

    They dragged the trains of darkness,

    Its gloom their cloaking veil.

  6. بِوجوهٍ تُجْتَلَى مِنْ

    هَا تَباشِيرُ الصَّباحِ

    With faces lit by the first

    Rays of dawn's smiling hail.

  7. وَرَدُوا المَوْتَ ظِماءً

    تَحْتَ أَظْلالِ الرِّماحِ

    To death, thirsty, they returned

    Beneath the spears' shadows pale.

  8. وَالضُّبَيْبِيَّاتُ خُوصٌ

    وَبِها نُجْلُ الجِراحِ

    Bandages and wounds they bore,

    The marks of wounds that flail.

  9. فَشَفَتْ غُلَّتَهُمْ بِالدْ

    دَمِ أَطْرافُ الصِّفاحِ

    Their throats by blood were healed,

    The blood that swords exhale.

  10. وَأَفادَ البَأْسُ نُعْمَى

    أَتْلَفُوها بِالسَّماحِ

    Valour brought them fortune's boons

    Won with open-handed hail.
