1. لي يا بهاء الدين فيك مدائح

    تبقى ومنك مواهب ومنائحُ

    I have praises for you, O Bahaa al-Din

    That remain, and from you graces and gifts

  2. إيها أبا الفضل الممدح والذي

    ميزانه من كل فضل راجحُ

    O Abu al-Fadl, the one praised and who

    His scale, from all virtue, outweighs

  3. لك غرة تجلو الخطوبَ كأَنَّها

    في كلِّ داجِيَة شهاب لائحُ

    You have a brilliance that dispels calamities as if

    In every gloomy darkness, a blazing meteor

  4. ومواقف شهدت بأنك صافح

    عن جارمرك أسِنّة وصفائحُ

    And decisive moments that testify that you

    From an attacking enemy, lips and shining swords defend

  5. ويمين صدق أنه ما للندى

    وزناده لولا يمينك قادحُ

    And a true oath that to the dew

    And its scales, were it not for your unsheathing sword

  6. يا خير من خاضت به بحر الوغى

    جرداء سلهبة ونهد سابحُ

    O best of those who plunged into the tumultuous sea

    Bare, despoiled, her breast swimming

  7. ما فات سيفك رامحا شهد الوغى

    يوما ولو شهد السماك الرامحُ

    No sword that sought you has the tumult witnessed

    A day, even if the firmament itself bore witness

  8. مولاي يا ابن محمد نهج العلى

    بك يا علي القدر نهج واضحُ

    My Master, O son of Muhammad, exemplar of the Most High

    Through you, O Ali, destiny makes clear a path

  9. وسماح كفك نحو غاد رائح

    يرجوك بالمعروف غاد رائحُ

    And the generosity of your palm towards one who comes

    Seeking your benevolence, a supplicant who comes

  10. لي خاطر في وصف مجدك طيع

    وإذا انتخيت به سواك فجامعُ

    My mind is inclined to describe your glory compliant

    And if I choose but you, then I gather

  11. بأبي الجواد ابن المظفر أنه

    بحر بماء الجود طام طافحُ

    By Abul Jawad the son of al-Muzaffar, that he

    Is an ocean with the water of generosity, brimming over

  12. ينهل جودا والاكف جوامد

    ويضيء بشرا والوجوه كوالحُ

    Bestowing generosity while palms withhold

    Radiating nobility while faces frown

  13. تنميه من آل الرفيل مرازب

    شم الأنوف لدى الهياج جحاجحُ

    Growing from the house of al-Rafiq virtues

    That if sensed, make staunch souls tremble

  14. قوم حصونهم الدروع وبيضهم

    أبدا لأقفال الحصون مفاتحُ

    A people whose shields are armor and whose whiteness

    Is never unlocked by the keys of fortresses

  15. قوم إذا ما الخطب أظلم أصبحوا

    فيه وهم سرج له ومصابحُ

    A people, if calamities darken they become

    In them, torches for it and lamps

  16. يا مضحك الأيام وهي عوابس

    ومقرب الآمال وهي نوازحُ

    O one who makes days laugh though they frown

    Who brings hopes near though they are distant

  17. وأجل من تحدى إليه قلائص

    كوم طلائح فوقهن طلائحُ

    And greater than one who is challenged with swords

    Like a pile of cutting blades atop cutting blades

  18. يفديك يا ابن الأكرمين معاشر

    ما فيهم من فيه يصدق مادحُ

    May those who include the likes of you ransom you

    One who praises them sincerely, none would doubt

  19. خشب مسندة وإن راقت لهم

    يوم السلام مساند ومطارعُ

    Though they smile at you from afar

    When peace comes, supporting and sheltering

  20. أغنيتني عن كل جهم كله

    لؤم فلا سمح ولا متسامحُ

    You have made me needless of any sorrow

    So neither vulgar nor tolerant am I

  21. غمر فلا أنا فارح بلقائه

    كلا ولا هو بامتداحي فارحُ

    My joy at meeting you immersed me

    No, nor was he joyous at my praise

  22. فلأشكرنك ما همت منهلَّة

    سحب وما هتف الحمام الصادحُ

    So I thank you whenever a cloud poured down

    And the cooing pigeon cried aloud

  23. شكرا يفوح المسك من أثنائه

    فكأنه من طيب نشرك فائحُ

    Thanks whose musk smell rises high

    As if it were the scent your perfume emitted

  24. هنّيت بالصوم الشريف فإنَّه

    عمل به ترضي الهك صالحُ

    You gladdened me with the noble fast for it

    Is a deed by which your God is pleased

  25. وبقيت ما شئت البقاء محسَّدا

    ليغم ذو حنق ويرغم كاشحُ

    And you remained as long as you wished, envied

    So let the spiteful one frown and gnash his teeth
