عداك للسيف أصبحوا أجزرا

فافنهم ثم عش لنا وزرا

For you, swords have become useless,

So sheathe them, and live honorably for us.

أصبحت أورى الورى زناد ندى

طرا وأنداهم وئرا

You have become the light that illuminates all,

A high mountain, an ever-flowing spring.

لو وهبت كفاك الدنا لمرجي

ك لقينا بعد معذرا

If your palm granted wishes to supplicants,

We would have found ample excuses.

يا غرة الدهر من رجانيل مس

عاتا نال الخطار والغرار

O jewel of time, o flower of youth,

You attained glory and splendor early on.

كم لكَ من منه ومأثرة

تحمد منها عفاتك الأثرا

How much honor and nobility you have

That highlight your virtuous qualities.

عودك صلب على العدا فإذا

هززت للمجد لأن مهتصرا

Your principles are firm against enemies, so if

You brandish your sword for glory, you will triumph.

ما زال يحي يحي بأنعمه

من سنن المكرمات مادثرا

Yahya continues to revive us with his favors,

Distributing graciousness abundantly.

صدر يعيد الوفود حامدة

لديه ورد السماح والصدرا

A chest that sends back envoys full of praise

To him, carrying gifts and friendship.

طود حلوم سام لمعتلق

بحر علوم طام إذا زخرا

A towering mountain of vast knowledge,

An ocean brimming over when stirred.

أعف أهل الزمان قاطبة

نفسا وأعفاهم وقد قدرا

He pardoned all people entirely,

While they wronged him and plotted.

تفريق أمواله المجمع من

عفاته حول بابه زمرا

He distributed his gathered wealth

Freely around his court in throngs.

قد ألف السائلون من يده ال

جود وألفوا في عوده ثمرا

Seekers have become accustomed to his generosity,

And to the fruits always found at his door.

أشجع من قلَّبت أنامله

بيضا وهزت خطية سمرا

Braver than one whose white fingers

Wield a sword, stirring conflict.

ترى النتدى ضده معاينة

ومن سواه تخاله خبرا

You see allegiance to him intimate,

While others seem to him mere rumors.
