1. أرِح المحَب فلست من نُصَائِهِ

    يكفيه ما يلقاه من بُرَحائِهِ

    Give respite to the lover, for you are not one of his confidants

    Content with what he finds of solace

  2. لا داء اقتل للشجي من الهوى

    وحياته في أن يموت بدائِه

    No malady kills the passionate lover

    His life is in dying for his love

  3. لا تعذلنّ على الصبابة مغرما

    يمسي ونار الشوق حشو حشائه

    Do not blame the enamored for his passion

    In the evening, longing's flames fill his mind

  4. إن لم تكن خلاًّ تعين فلا تكن

    عونا عليه وخلِّهِ بعنائه

    If you cannot be a friend, do not be

    A foe, leaving him be with his sighs

  5. ومهفهف كالغصن هزّته الصبا

    يصبي الحليم بخطره المتتائه

    Swaying like a branch, buffeted by passions

    The forbearing sways dangerously adrift

  6. عجبا لحمرة خده كيف اغتدت

    تزداد فرط تضرم في مائه

    Wondrous is the blush of his cheek, how it glows

    Ever growing in the fire of his love

  7. بدر يتيه بشعره وظلامه

    وبنور صبح جبينه وضيائه

    A moon wandering in his darkness and light

    The radiance of dawn on his brow its glory

  8. لم أنسه إذ زارني متستراض

    يترقب الغفلات من رقبائه

    I've not forgotten, when he visited me stealthily

    Watching for unmindfulness in my neck's turn

  9. يخفي فتعرفه الوشاة بنفحة

    من عرفه كالمسك عند ذكائه

    He hides, so the spies detect him

    By the scent - recognizable when remembered

  10. وحياته لولا الحياء وخوفه

    أكثرت من تقبيل ورد حيائه

    His life - if not for shyness and fear

    I'd have kissed often the rose of his cheek

  11. سقيا له ما كان أحلى وصله

    لو لم ينغصه بمر جفائه

    I would have given him the sweetest union

    If he had not soured it with his disdain

  12. لهفي على غي الشباب وإن غدا

    رشد المشيب ملفعي بردائه

    I fret for the loss of youth, and tomorrow

    The wisdom of old age dons its raiment

  13. أيام اسكنني السواد وحسنه

    من قلب ذات الخال في سودائه

    Days have settled me in sorrow and loss

    With the mole on the cheek in its blackness

  14. جار المشيب فليته متعلم

    من عدل مولانا وحسن وفائهِ

    Old age draws near, if only it had learned

    From the justice and grace of our Lord

  15. أقسمت ما طئ الثرى متخلف

    أندى يدا منه ببذل ثرائه

    I swear no better foot has trod the earth

    More generous in giving wealth

  16. طود منيع من ذؤابة هاشم

    تجد النعفاة القيء في أفنائهِ

    A sturdy pillar of glorious Hashemites

    Succor comes freely from its thresholds

  17. خضل الجناب الرحب تخضر المنى

    لمؤملي جداواه في خضرائهِ

    He brought the holy plain to lush greenery

    For those hopeful of his springtide renewal

  18. بخلائق كالروض حيّاه الحيا

    سحرا وأضحك زهرة ببكائهِ

    With manners like a garden, his life gives cheer

    Magic smiles and laughter mid tears

  19. المستضي فينا بأمر أنهِهِ

    والمستضاء برأيه من بطحائهِ

    The enlightened among us in our plight

    And those seeking his wise counsel

  20. من معشر أضحي الحطيم وزمزم

    ارثا لهم والركن من بطحائهِ

    Of a folk who inherited the Black Stone and Zamzam

    As their legacy, with the Kaaba's environs

  21. ضحكت له آيامنا واستبشرت

    جذلا به وتخايلت كالتائهِ

    Our days smiled at him, cheered up

    Swaying joyously like a wanderer

  22. مازال يهنأ داءها فلو أنها

    ملكت لسانا أفصحت بهنائهِ

    Her illness has not ceased to delight

    If only she had a voice to tell of her joy

  23. فالعدل قد ملاء البسيطة مساكناً

    فيها وقد أرخى فضول ملائهِ

    With justice filling the land with homes

    Where his surplus spills its abundance

  24. ملك الرعية بالجميل فأصبحوا

    وهم على الإطلاق من أسرائهِ

    Ruling the flock with kindness, till they

    Became free of fetters and bondage

  25. هذا يروح متيم دعوته وذا

    حدب عليه يخصه بدعائهِ

    This one imploring, and that

    Hoping he will answer a call

  26. داوى مريض الفقر وهو على شفا

    فأتاه عاجل بره بشفائهِ

    Healing the sick and destitute nearing recovery

    Swiftly coming with succor

  27. كم حادث جلّى جلاه مفرجا

    بعزيمة كالسيف عند مضائهِ

    How many crises has he resolved

    With decisive action in times of trial

  28. إن جاشت الحرب العوان فعنده

    جيش يلوح النصر في أثنائهِ

    When war's helpers rage, his army appears

    Victory glistening amidst their weapons

  29. وسوابغ كالغدر روشّتها الصَبا

    وصوارم كالبَرقِ في لألائهِ

    And polished blades the dawn has gilded

    Swords flashing like lightning in their sheaths

  30. قسم المنايا والمنى لعداته

    وعفاته في أخذه وعطائهِ

    To foes he dispenses death or life

    In his taking and giving equally

  31. ما أسودّ ظن أخي رجاء مخفق

    وأتاه إلا أبيض وجه رجائهِ

    No dark thoughts made my brother despair

    Unless met with his visage of hope

  32. غيث يجود لنا بصفوةِ مالِهِ

    كرماً إذا ما الغيثُ ضنَّ بمائِهِ

    A plenteous cloud bestowing choice wealth

    Nobly, when clouds withhold their rain

  33. خلوا على آبائه وتأملوا

    فبمجده شاد العلى وآبائهِ

    Let his fathers be, and ponder how

    His glory exalted the Exalted and ancestors

  34. أأبا محمد الامام دعاء من

    أضحى نداك ملبيِّياً لندائهِ

    O Abu Muhammad the Imam, the prayer

    Of one made your companion in call

  35. لقد اعتلقت من الوزير بمحصد الت

    تَدبير مضاء على غلوائهِ

    Indeed, in the minister I found the fruits

    Of enlightened rule dispelling darkness

  36. عضد الإله الدين منه بأروع

    وَرِعٍ يحل المشكلات برائهِ

    God supported religion through his finest

    Piety solving intricacies with insight

  37. مغرى بحبك ما صفا ود امرئ

    في سائر الدنيا لكم لصفائهِ

    None seduced by love of you in the world entire

    For purity, like his sincerity

  38. كم خاض بحر وفي إلى أعدائكم

    وأهاج نار الحرب في هيجائهِ

    How many seas taken on for your enemies

    And kindled war's flames in their surging

  39. فالله يمنعنا ويحمي سر بنا

    ببقاء ملكك دائما وبقائهِ

    God protects us, guarding the secret of our clan

    With lasting reign over us continually

  40. فتهن شهرا خبَّرتك سعودُهُ

    بمسو جدّ صاعد وعلائهِ

    Rejoice in a month that heralded your ascent

    To highest summit and zenith

  41. وأسلم ودم ياخير خلق يجتدى

    ما لاح نجم في أديم سمائهِ

    And well-being, best of creation sought

    What stars shine in the sky's expanse
